“Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.” (1Peter 5:8,9)
Read by many, many times. Conversely, scoffed by many, many times. Still, if that isn’t a call to minister in any way possible to those who suffer, I fail in everything.
One such area that has largely been ignored where they undoubtedly suffer and where the Christian brotherhood isn't fairing well, is in the area of that good and natural affection known as 'sexual desire'. Mainly because of those of us older and having learned to walk well beyond much of today's chat-room expectations that lack spiritual stability with this issue in an age of not being able to sort out for themselves the difference of that good, strong and healthy sexual desire from everything that would remove our guardrails of truth to correctly handle it !!
For those whom have the victory but refuse to touch this issue that it might pollute your known excellence of expounding on difficulties, well guess what, omissions from such a heavyweight that the young are obviously plagued by will also go on record when the “books are opened”. To those being tried; as the saying goes to the end: “The night is far spent, the day is at hand.” to which the books will also “be opened”.
In dealing with this God-given desire in a world that has all the more honed itself accordingly, a Christian needs the power of Christ’s Spirit to be “watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:18).
Oh yes, keep them under Your continual care! Aside from one’s own choices of entertainment, how do you advise the young about their sexuality in a world who is committed to Babylon’s many traps (Revelations 18:2)? Hopefully, that is advice towards a victorious life that walks in peace and joy with Jesus. But if after you have read this post, you can't quite figure out what it is centered over, read it again and don't cave to become another spiritual casualty that scoffs at the following:
“I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one.” (1John 2:13)
