Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

I think this is the things that God truly wants us to think about..
So anyone who has anything to share with us that is True, Honest, Lovely, Just, Pure and of a good report post it here.. I think that this would be very encouraging to each other..
I will post something later as I am ON my break from work and really do need to get back to it.
Love you and God Bless.

Great Scripture, Rae.

Another one that is along those lines and takes it a bit further is Colossians 3:2-3: "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God." Then the chapter goes on to tell us what types of things to keep out of our thoughts and lives, and in verse 10 we are exhorted to "put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator." By thinking on the right things, which keeps our focus on godly things and off the worldly, and by renewing our minds to conform to the image of the Lord help us to fulfill the instructions in verses 12-17:

"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

A Pslam was ussually played with a harp or stringed instrutment.
A Hymn was a song written for praise and worship or prayer to God
A Spiritual song was a song that was written ans sang on the spot as worship unto God.

It is vital that we take up our cross so that we will not sow to the flesh. There is no way that we can sow to the Spirit without taking up our cross. When we take up our cross, we recognize that we have been crucified with Christ (Gal 2:20). We are died and our life is hid with Christ positionally through grace. But God has to work that death in our experience through the cross. God's plan is to always deliver us unto death, to work death in us, so that His life (resurrection life) will come forth out of death for others (2Cor 4:11,12). Paul said, that as a believer, he died daily (1Cor 15:31). He also said that he was determined to know nothing among the believers except Christ and Him crucified (1Cor 2:2).

When we are delivered unto death through God's plan, we can now put off the old man and put on Christ. God's plan gives us that opportunity. You can't put on Christ or those things mentioned in (Col 3:12-14) until we have put off those things mentioned in (Col 3:7-9). If you try to put on Christ without putting off the things of the flesh, then you will sow to the flesh instead of the Spirit. I am not just talking about outward sins of the flesh but rather the disposition and mind of the flesh (Rom 8:5, Eph 2:3). It also takes being renewed in the grace and knowledge of Christ to put on Christ. You can strip yourself of the old man and then have nothing to put on. That would leave you naked and eventually you would go back to what you are use to, the flesh (Rom 8:5, Eph 4:23, Phil 1:27). To put on Christ , we have to take up our cross, respond to the plan of God by faith, let God work death in us, so we can put on Christ to be revealed as resurrection life for others. This is the meat of the will of God that is in Christ Jesus.

Before we can finally come to those things mentioned in (Phil 4:8,9) that we are to think upon, we realize in (Phil 3:9-18 ) that they have come through death to be revealed in us as life. The only things that are sown in the Spirit are those things that have passed through death, because without passing through death they will have no life.

You can really think about anything in the Lord's life....
for example, Jesus spending 40 days in a desert without food or water...Jesus bleeding on a cross...Jesus being mocked...Jesus rising from the dead (Imagine what you would do if you were there and Jesus was like whats up? see it is really me, after being in despair over his death...)...These are probably what you should be thinking about in this category...

But also, anything the Lord has led you to do...I find it helpful when I don't know what the Lord wants me to be doing to remember what he has already done for and through me...

God bless

The strength of a well planted tree in a storm. It stays in tact, gets tossed around but never uprooted.

I thought of two more...
23-a job well done--I just mowed the yard the other day, and I sometimes get lazy and don't weedwack everywhere, but it does really feel good both to do work and to do something really amazingly well, even if it is cutting the yard.
24-wrestling with God; sounds wierd, but as I couldn't emember the second one I had I thought I might as well think one up...but I do think wrestling/struggling with God over what is right in prayer and in our lives is also one of these things...

God's peace

I like the way Luke records how Mary "treasured up" and "pondered" the glorious things that God was about to do through Jesus. The shepherds proclaimed the good news, while Mary pondered it in her heart. There are times when I proclaim the promises of God and the wonderful things He has done, and at other times I simply meditate on them and "treasure" them in my heart just as Mary did.

"So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart." (Luke 2:16-19, NIV)
