I don't think we can twist God's arm by using a specific verse.

From AWMI ministries.
When praying make sure you are praying to God and not to the people around you.
Prayer is talking to God not to man. You don't need to use a special holy voice, or
complicated words.
Just saying "help me God" is a prayer.
Prayer, reading bible, fellowshipping with God should be enjoyable, just like enjoying
our human relationships.

Matthew 6:5-8 NKJV
[5] "And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites.
For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners
of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you,
they have their reward.

[6] But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your
door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees
in secret will reward you openly. [7] And when you pray, do not use vain
repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for
their many words. [8] "Therefore do not be like them. For your Father
knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.

Psalms 23:2-5
King James Version(KJV)

2.He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3.)He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4.)Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5.)Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

I declare the end from the beginning,
and from long ago what is not yet done, saying:
My plan will take place, and I will do all My will.

(Isaiah 46:10, HCSB)

He will do all His will

i'm sorry but wow "the message" takes liberties!
no one should consider it "scripture" at all. it's a complete re-writing by a single man's imaginations and private interpretations.

y'all know i am a far cry from 'kjv-only' but.. just wow.

Give thanks in every circumstance,
for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Hmm! Here is was thinking what a great and imaginative paraphrase!

On the other hand "imaginative" probably says it all! LOL

"8 He has told you, O man, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8

And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?
Luke 18:6-8

The Lord loves us and really cares. Jesus declares it, so it is not twisting His arm,
it is calling to our Father. And He will answer to real need.

Many times I find myself praying, "God, I choose to trust You", and "Holy Spirit, please intercede on my (or someone else's) behalf, for I just don't know what to pray!"

Prayer is not formulaic, it is the communicating of our heart to God, and vice versa.

I dont believe we are meant to try to "move" God in any way shape or form. Using any particular verse or prayer should not be used to try and move God but be "moved" by God. My prayer is just "be gracious to me Lord, a sinner". I would much rather God "move" me than me try to "move" God.

Just my own thoughts on prayer and reading the Bible.

I've discovered that just my "help, Lord" moves him. It is my heart's cry - not a specific verse. After all, isn't he my Father?

Agreed.. There is no special words we need to say.. there is no repetitious mantra, no magik spell incantations... No secret special more effective formulas.. Just talk to God in your own words and ask Him what ever you will to ask.. don't turn prayer into witchcraft spells...
