This is Sickening...How are we making Suicide a Viable Option?!

It not her fault in some parts. How can a doctor tell u u have 6 months 2 live? He is not God. These doctors kill patients by breaking their morals. IDK I think Joel Osteen once said, a doctor told his mom she was going to die in a couple of months but his mom is alright. My doctors told me if I didnt take my meds my symptoms for my schizophrenia will come back. Im happy God address him and told him you are not going to do that to my child. I knew something was up when i started taking the meds. It helps me but they want to play games with me. THANK God, Dad was there with me. He told them to overdose me, and when God told u something u better do it. Now im schizophrenia free. LOL Satan is mad that he cant mess with my mind. im just too wise.
 
Everybody wants to rule the world. Everybody wants to play God. But still, judgments are with God, not mine. May God spare us for more harm. May I pray for all of us to be comforted by God's better purpose. If Jesus has an illness to save the world, would he rather takes his life rather than suffer and die? And I also pray for the doctors out there to be wiser for they are entrusted of souls rather than patients.
 
The product of a secular society where we have right to decided over what we can do with our lives and bodies without being told we can not.
 
A great number of folks will see that as perfectly acceptable. With no knowledge of God what other outcome should we expect? How long will it be until the government makes those same decisions for us all?

If one considers that to depart this life apart from a genuine saving knowledge of Christ is to depart into eternal condemnation this is a far greater problem than can be imagined. I do not have any information to say one way or the other but if I were to advise a believer in this matter it would be to endure the suffering and to do so for Christ's glory.

This option is often seen as a relief of suffering but for the unsaved it is only the beginning of eternal suffering.

If she knew God then she could have just asked Him to end her life instead.

Life is good when we are healthy, but in constant pain and suffering death is seen as a release from that misery, constant extreme pain makes it impossible to enjoy or do anything anyway.

a few years ago there was someone at my church who suffered from cancer, it was being managed and treated, she had years ahead of her, but she was in constant pain and agony. She told us despite the comfort of Jesus and not being healed every second was agony. She said pray for her complete healing or for God to take her home. She said she wanted to die. a couple of days later she died in her sleep, God took her home as requested.

When it comes to death we seem to think we should keep someone alive at all cost, even at the expense of the suffering of the individual. We pray to keep people alive on death beds, but is it really right thing to do? Demons can prolong peoples deaths if it means pain and suffering, if a beleiver is suffering and life is lingering, then pray for a quick release and death instead.

This mentality of keeping people alive is born out of the non believers fear that death means the end and its important to preserve life for as long as possible , as Christians we know that our life on earth is just the start and our life continues after our bodies die.
 
Tragic for sure....I bet she wishes she could change her mind if she was lost and without the blood of Christ covering her......and yes...when our society begins to accept this type of practice...makes me wonder what is next...euthanasia of the elderly and or sick children.......!
 
Just thought on sharing this response a woman made who is battling the same cancer. Apparently it made Brittany live a little bit longer before the death.

I don't know if you understand what the word inoperable means...but she was going to die. No stopping that. So instead of waiting in agonizing pain while the cancer slowly killed her she decided to go out at a time of her choosing. If you are going to die either way, why does it matter? She left before any of the serious pain and side effects kicked in. Besides what right do you have to say what someone else who is dying of a terminal disease can do with their life?

yes because allowing people to decide when they want to die instead of wasting away from illness and disease will totally resulting in us just killing off sick people. It makes perfect sense. Personal choice can totally lead to that.

i find it very frustrating when people who have zero personal experience regarding a very difficult situation waste no time judging and ridiculing someone who decides that she would rather die EARLIER, more peacefully, before she suffers much more of the horrific symptoms, such as terribly painful, traumatic seizures, pain that is almost impossible to fully eliminate, a list of symptoms that i wouldn't wish on anyone, and nicely put, a miserably horrific wasting, end.

wouldn't it be nice for a change to not jump every opportunity to fulfill the stereotype associated with judgmental, unilaterally-objective-applying, "force everyone to behave like christian" laws?

while i don't know that her decision would be right for me, per se, until you get your stage 4 glioblastoma diagnosis, undergo operations in the attempt to be healed and receive treatment, then are finally told there is nothing more for them to do for you--until you see your own body, wasting away from a ferociously miserable disease, perhaps we could acknowledge the fact that the bible flatly doesn't discuss this specific topic and we should keep a softer heart and more open mind. a little more mercy and a little less vitriol.

maybe offer a little tolerance to those who we expect to be granted the similar freedom to live in the manner of which we choose???

i hate that people who might be her friends or family might come to this site and believe that all christians are in a hurry to condemn people for not living just like them, or read statements like this.

God is the creator of life.He is the one who gives it and he's the one who takes it away.We do not have a right to take life.Being a Christian I'm surprised you don't feel the same way.

being this IS the bible argument forum, i am surprised you aren't aware that all christians don't agree. : )
 
A work colleague of mine was given 2 years to live...2 years ago last August, he is still working and on occasion plays football/soccer. I remember giving him a Christmas card that year and I wrote a message telling him I was praying for him (he isn't a Christian) I went on to say that the doctors' diagnosis was just an opinion and that he should at no stage give up. He began to have counselling - they were telling him to accept death while all the time I was telling him he should never give up. So who was right - the doctors? The counsellors or little old praying me?

Never give up, life is a gift from God, He and He alone should decide when your time on earth is up.

Its a discussion forum hopefully not an argument forum.Its considered a foundational belief of Christians that taking ones life is wrong.I would say the vast majority of Christians believe this.It's why we dont agree with abortion.So yes Im a bit surprised that a Christian would be ok with someone taking their own lives.
 
My neighbor's uncle committed suicide recently via shotgun under his chin. He had gone to the hospital that day, and he had heart problems, blockages and such, and had only 15% function of his heart left in use. He went home, his daughter had to literally carry him in the house--that's how weak and in excruciating pain he was, couldn't hardly walk, could barely even breathe.. He told his wife "I can't go on like this any more. I can't take the pain," then he went into the bathroom with his shotgun, sat on the toilet, and shot a bullet into his brain. At his doctor's visit, he had been told the end was near and it would be excruciatingly and increasingly painful.

There is a certain limit on the amount of physical and emotional pain that we can handle. I believe there comes a point where both the person's mind AND body just pretty much turn off from the pain, and that's when their decision to end their life comes in. I know to an extent how awful it feels to have to struggle for every breath, and how agonizing even just walking can be when you're in such wicked pain.

I do NOT believe that God doesn't give us more than we can handle. If we COULD handle whatever he gives us, there wouldnt be so many suicides!! In the case of this woman Brittany Maynard, she had just received news that she had (inoperable) cancer. Having received this same news myself of a cancer diagnosis, I can attest to the fact that when someone says "you have cancer," it REALLY plays with your mind and your emotions!! Every possible scenario runs through your mind, and it drives you crazy wondering "what if". I don't condone suicide, BUT I know if I was faced with an excruciating end, or a quick painless death, I just might choose quick and painless. What I can bear in pain and suffering, just might be different for someone else with the same diagnosis. Maybe they aren't as strong mentally or physically. We cannot judge Brittany for what she did--only God can do that.

I would argue that to force another person by law to face several months of debilitating physical ability, mental stress and intensifying physical pain is far more 'sick' than to allow them a death with some dignity.
 
I watched one of my grandfathers die from that type of brain cancer 7 years ago. I also saw my uncle die from a Gioblastoma about 3 years ago. ( brain tumor) I also watched my Nana die from Bone Cancer and my Memaw from breast and lung cancer.

There deaths were awful. Literally.... the things that happened while they were dying and right before they died make me sick to my stomach just thinking about. They suffered, i mean suffered horribly, and i'll never get those images out of my mind. I pray God spares me from that kind of death.

Having watched people die from Brain Cancer/Tumor Lung and bone cancer. I would take the pill. I would not want my family or relatives to watch me die in that way. And i would never want to endure what they endured.
