garee,
re: "I was replying to the question.... Are you a 6th day of the week crucifixion advocate?"

OK, your question mark must have been a typo. At any rate, I don't see how you've never heard of folks who think the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week.

re: "I would offer the three day work of suffering began in the garden of Gethsemane..."

This topic is actually directed to those who think the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb or at the earliest to when the Messiah's spirit left His Body.

Never heard of the 6th day crucifixtion .

The Son of man's eternal Spirit of God left his body when He said it is finished . The veil was rent signaling the beginning of the first resurrection. The graves of the Old testament saints were opened

The heart of the earth or another metaphor used, belly of the whale, a three day work as a demonstration began in the Garden of Gethsemane on Thursday signaled by Mathew 26:37-39 finishing the outward demonstration of the lamb of God slain from before the foundation of the world on Sunday morning,

And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.Mathew 26:37-39 .

re: "Never heard of the 6th day crucifixtion ."

That still seems odd since I think most folks believe that it is the day on which the crucifixion took place.

But as I said, this topic is really meant for those folks who think the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb or at the earliest to when the Messiah's spirit left His Body.

The crucifixion is not the beginning of the work but a outward demonstration of the beginning.

The "heart of the earth" a metaphor is likened to the "three days in the belly of the whale" a living Hell. God cannot die. The corruptible flesh of the Son of man, Jesus is signified as sinful flesh. It cannot inherit the incorruptible....the Son of God .God is not a man as us.

The crucifixion is part of that three work as a living sacrifices that began in the garden. My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death.

The three days is in respect to a living sacrifice.

The phrase in that parable "belly of the whale" as a living hell, is saying the same as the "heart of the earth" . The demonstration of the unseen work of God's Spirit pouring out the cup of wrath began in the garden . Just as it was a garden experience when man fell.

The "heart of the earth" a metaphor...
How come everything seems to be either a metaphor or a parable for you?

Why do you have a problem with interpreting the Bible as a straight literal narrative?

Sheol/Hades was (and is) "in th heart of the earth" or "the lower parts of the earth" or at, or near, the core of the earth.

And that is where the soul and spirit of Christ were for three days and three nights (while His body lay in the tomb).

Hello. Thanks with all due respect.

I would think all of us as to how we would describe the word of God we take on different prescriptions. like finger prints some are more noticeable than others. But ultimately the word of God defines the words and phrases used through it .In that way it is a closed book.

I became interested early in my Christian walk. From the start I wondered at some of the language used to bring faith, the unseen understanding. It seemed to flow in scripture, the gospel hid from natural man .All of the ceremonial laws are used as shadows in that way to preach the suffering of Christ beforehand hand. Coming at the time of reformation.

Again the presecition are there so that we can rightly divide His word as we do seek that approvalof Him not seen

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.2 Corinhtians 4:18

I was informed many times that if the literal makes sense do not look and search any deeper. I pondered where did that prescription come from seeing we walk by faith after the unseen eternal and not by sight after that literally seen?

You could say mankind fell because he walked after the two avenues that bring false pride through the subtleness of the father of lies.

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Whenever it is necessary to find the spiritual understanding hid in parables, the signified language of God. God uses metaphors to reveal the mysteries.

Without parables or proverbs Christ spoke not again using the temporal things seen to give us the unseen spiritual understanding.

Matthew 13:34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a "parable" spake he not unto them:

That gave me the incentive to search as for silver or gold the hidden pearl beyond cost

Mark 4:11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the "mystery of the kingdom of God": but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables

Psalm 78:2I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

The word proverb is the same Hebrew word

paroimia: a byword, a parable, an allegory
Original Word: παροιμία, ας, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: paroimia
Phonetic Spelling: (par-oy-mee'-ah)
Short Definition: an allegory, proverb
Definition: a cryptic saying, an allegory; a proverb, figurative discourse.

Proverbs 1:6To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

There are two parables set apart to give us one understanding. One in respect to Jonas a figure of Christ who is shown suffering a living suffering called hell, having cried out he was delivered. Just as the Son of man Jesus who was alone I the garden. The father having put to sleep the disciples so no one could accredit the work of suffering and prayer a living hell to anyone but the Son of man alone. Jesus cried out during his living suffering as a living sacrifice .The father strengthened him so he could finish the demonstration of pouring out His Spirit on flesh corrupted flesh.

Dead sacrifices have no value. their literal lifeless spiritless flesh and blood must be poured out

Jonah 2 King James Version (KJV)2 Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish's belly,2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

Mark 14:33-35 King James Version (KJV And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy; And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch. And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.

The key is "unto death"..... God's Holy Spirit cannot die

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights "in the whale's belly;" so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the "heart of the earth".

I am not trying to change the subject (three days and three nights "in the whale's belly; or in the heart of the earth) as saying the same thing in two ways.

I think it began on Thursday when Christ said his soul was suffering unto death and he sweat to indicate the unseen work of pouring out His Spirit as if it was literal drops of blood . A living suffering. Just as that which was accredited to Jonah.

You may not be trying to, but that's what you're doing.

BTW, you say that you think the count starts in the garden on Thursday night and ends sometime on Sunday. However, that would mean that 4 night times were involved and not 3.

Eccl12and13,

re: "Does it really matter how the Jews of Jesus day counted a day?"

It does to the folks who argue for a 6th day crucifixion. Do you have any information asked for in the OP?
What the 6th day people are not understanding is there are weekly Sabbaths and yearly Sabbaths. Jesus was crucified during Passover week. It begins and ends with a Sabbath. Jesus rose from the grave the evening of the weekly Sabbath as evidenced by the empty tomb on the first day of the week. Therefore the second Passover Sabbath was on a Wednesday when he was crucified rising on the evening of the weekly Sabbath. That makes 3 evenings and mornings as scripture talks about days. The Biblical day starts at sunset. Something the devout Jews in Israel keep. Went there for work a few times. Everything is done by Friday evening in hotels run by devout jews. They lay out a table of food for the Sabbath meals. The restaurants open Saturday evening at sunset.

I go by Luke who adds information that it was a Sabbath of Passover. Here it is in 3 different translations.
Luke 22 King James Version (KJV)
1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.
2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.
5 And theywere glad, and covenanted to give him money.
6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.
7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.
9 And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?

NIV
Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus
1 Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching, 2 and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people. 3 Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve. 4 And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. 5 They were delighted and agreed to give him money. 6 He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present.
The Last Supper
7 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. 8 Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”
9 “Where do you want us to prepare for it?” they asked.

AMPC
1 Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread was drawing near, which is called the Passover.
2 And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to do away with [Jesus], for they feared the people.
3 But [then] Satan entered into Judas, called Iscariot, who was one of the Twelve [apostles].
4 And he went away and discussed with the chief priests and captains how he might betray Him and deliver Him up to them.
5 And they were delighted and pledged [themselves] to give him money.
6 So he agreed [to this], and sought an opportunity to betray Him to them [without an uprising] in the absence of the throng.
7 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover [lamb] had to be slain.
8 So Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare for us the Passover meal, that we may eat it.
9 They said to Him, Where do You want us to prepare [it]?

Here is the burial of Jesus. The Sabbath mentioned is the one mentioned above.

Luke 23
KJV
50 And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
51 (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
52 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.

NIV
The Burial of Jesus
50 Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, 51 who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea, and he himself was waiting for the kingdom of God. 52 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body. 53 Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. 54 It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.

AMPC
50 Now notice, there was a man named Joseph from the Jewish town of Arimathea. He was a member of the council (the Sanhedrin), and a good (upright, advantageous) man, and righteous (in right standing with God and man),
51 Who had not agreed with or assented to the purpose and action of the others; and he was expecting and waiting for the kingdom of God.
52 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
53 Then he took it down and rolled it up in a linen cloth for swathing dead bodies and laid Him in a rock-hewn tomb, where no one had ever yet been laid.
54 It was the day of Preparation [for the Sabbath], and the Sabbath was dawning (approaching).

Endoscopy,
re: " Therefore the second Passover Sabbath was on a Wednesday when he was crucified rising on the evening of the weekly Sabbath."

That's an issue for a different topic. Perhaps you might start one?
My post is completely about 3 nights and 3 days to put in in the language of the Bible. The day starts at sunset in Biblical times and still does in Israel today. Keep in mind it is impossible to get 3 nights and days from the evening before the weekly Sabbath to Sunday morning when the tomb was found empty. The Bible clearly states he was crucified the day before the Feast of Unleavened Bread, a Passover annual Sabbath. To get 3 nights and days with the empty tomb Sunday morning he had to be crucified on Wednesday. Count it out yourself.

Timeline
Wednesday crucifiction and buried that afternoon just before sunset since every Jew had to be home by sunset because that is when the Passover Sabbath started. Therefore he rose just before sunset.

Thursday in the tomb.

Friday in the tomb.

Saturday (Sabbath)in the tomb rising just before sunset.

Sunday tomb found empty.
Thursday Friday and Saturday are 3 days. If he was buried on Thursday then the tomb wouldn't be empty on Sunday morning.
