Soy así que agujereado ahora que fui a un Web site del traductor así que puedo mirar como sé mucho spannish, pero no sé realmente ningún español, a excepción de gracias de los muchas. Pero impresionarán cualquier persona que no sabe el spannish muy en cuánto spannish sé. de modo que me haga feliz. quizá haciendo esto aprenderé algunas palabras del spannish. pero probablemente, cuál soy el refrán no tendrá sentido porque este traductor no wor muy bien.

ROLF! This is pretty funny because "gringa" is the female form of "gringo," and neither words are Spanish words.

The word "gringo" comes from a Spaniard trying to pronounce the English words "green go" as Spaniards would say to the US military in their Spanish speaking county. They were trying to tell the US "foreigners" to leave (those in uniform), but not those civilians at the US embassy or those missionaries, for example.

Over time the "gringo" pronounciation became associated with Americans in general and the word "gringa" was formed for female US missionaries and eventually to any blond speaking English.

For example, to Spaniards in general, a "chino" (a Chinese) is usually anybody from the Orient, and a "turco" (a person from Turkey) is anybody from the Middle East.

I've heard Australians, British and even English speaking Swedes being called "gringas" or "gringos" by Spaniards.

Just like in California, for some odd reason, Spanish speaking people are called "Mexican."
Anyway, your post gave me a giggle there...
