I find Keller's teaching to be very helpful, but am a little concerned that he may be also putting a bit of a cultural spin into his sermons.

Forget Keller, he's part of the problem. What problem is that you ask. The false brethren problem. The let's make a name and a reputation for ourselves problem. The let's sell some books problem. The good ol' boy (and gal) network, Christian industrial complex problem.
Ignore Keller and read your Bible.

I read in the Bible at Acts 8:30-31".....do you understand what you are reading? And he replied, how can I unless some man guide me." So I listen for guidance from many sources and also feel this to be in accordance with John 3:8 "And the wind blows where it will......"
Well, do whatever you think is best. Just know, Tim Keller is a deceiver and I think you're right to question him.

Thanks for input and I realize there are a lot of false prophets. I have been reading the bible and commentaries via bible hub and find that it takes some time to get an understanding. I have been reading and listening and watching for about 4 years now.

I think you posted in the right place. It's just that I don't think a lot of people are familiar with Keller.
You're right, growth takes times.
The main issues I have with Keller are 1) He's a leftist ideologue. He doesn't present an accurate message of the true gospel, but superimposes on it things that fit his own ideology. 2) He's a social justice warrior. His ideas about the gospel conform to his preconceived social justice agenda. 3) He's a registered Democrat and has been for a long time. In New York, political affiliation is a matter of public record and all a person has to do is look. I also think he's made statements about it after it was made known.

I get the impression that all of us interpret the Bible according to our bias. A person from China probably has a bias I may not understand. How do citizens of the 190 or so countries understand Matthew 22:21 ".....render unto Caesar....". Who is Caesar where you live?

I don't get the connection that soberxp posted. I see that rendering unto Caesar is just the way to placate the powers that be so that the communities, including Christians, can live in peace. Maybe like where the tribute of Matthew 17 came up and Jesus abided by the powers that be even though he vehemently opposed them.
I don't contradict what you said.
One day, all people will understand that everything belongs to God, but maybe hell will belongs to Caesar. Maybe Caesar will belongs to God in the end. By then, it will not matter. What is important is that people will eventually understand that everything belongs to God no matter in heaven or hell.
Everyone will have a personal bias to some extent
I have read one of Kellers books but as not a New Yorker it didnt seem too relevant to me. He does seem to reach out to his sphere of influence, which is working New Yorkers it seems. So if you are one, you might find his sermons, preaching helpful
Many old time preachers seem to assume that all christians lives on a farm or house in the suburbs or is a stay at home mum or self satisfied baby boomer. What about the people trying to make rent in NYC apartments? Or the graduates of ivy league colleges? What about those people who have been workaholics all their lives serving wall street, how do they make a change and live as christians?

Growing up in Chicago and using alcohol liberally from an early age, 11 or so, mum even would say you can't get drunk on beer or wine, possibly disposes me to a more citified teaching. Looking back I can see it is difficult to penetrate the denial, blindness in Biblical terms? Now I realize drunkenness' is also a transgression of the law.
I have no doubt that's true for a lot of people, but we shouldn't be satisfied with that. Rather, I should say, I'm not satisfied with that.
Thats backward. We are to interpret our world around us and our culture through the Bible.
Yes this is why you shouldn’t dissect the Bible like it’s some sort of engineering book but you should get the essence of the teachings of the Bible and not read every line and build an ideology or church around it.
