To whom will we serve? Or will we be served? If this is the case, what do we pine for being served for?
• “He who carefully seeks good gets favor; but he who seeks mischief, it shall come to him. He who trusts in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall blossom like a branch. He who troubles his own house shall inherit the wind; *and the fool shall be servant to the wise in heart* .” (Pro 11:27-29).
There three hypotheses:
*First:* to serve the fool.
• “And it will be, when you shall say, Why does Jehovah our God do all these things to us? Then You shall answer them, Just as you have forsaken Me and served foreign gods in your land, so you shall serve strangers in a land that is not yours.” (Jer 5:19).
• “And do not turn aside to go after vanities, which cannot profit nor deliver. For they are vain.” (1Sam 12:21).
• “And Jehovah shall scatter you among all people, from the one end of the earth even to the other, and you shall serve other gods there, which neither you nor your fathers have known, wood and stone.” (Deu 28:64)
If we don’t serve the Creator, certainly we will end up serving brainless people who are egoistic, mean, crazy. That is to say, we will waste Jesus’ gifts in our life with vain and evil things, which only will bring to us the judgment of the Creator.
*Second:* to serve people of high position:
• “Do you see a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before unknown men.” (Pro 22:29).
Those who are honest, proficient, dedicated and of good vision (see Mat 6:22,23; Luke 11:33-36) certainly will be close to people of influence in this society. If, in particular, these people are pious and fearer to Jesus, at least we will stand up for a good cause.
*Third:* to be served for people around us:
This can sound good. Nonetheless, we need to take into consideration what Jesus said:
• “But Jesus called them and said, You know that the rulers of the nations exercise dominion over them, and they who are great exercise authority over them. However, it shall not be so among you. But whoever desires to be great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be chief among you, let him be your servant; even as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Mat 20:25-28).
• “You call Me the Teacher, and Lord, and you say well, for I AM. If then I, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.” (Joh 13:13,14).
It’s obvious that:
• “…If anyone reaches out to overseership, he desires a good work.” (1Ti 3:1).
Notwithstanding, what is our intention in reaching the leadership? To be authoritarian or authority? Is our wish to feed Jesus’ sheep (John 21:15-17) so that they can help us out to be used to magnify Christ before the eyes of everyone that cross our way?
If yes, have a good day being continually filled with the wisdom, as well as all virtues and gifts of the Kingdom of Heaven (Eph 1:3; 2Peter 1:3).
