While we may not know the majority are hostile to encourage and promote tongues, let's set aside the clamor of over this subject. For the arguments against the Holy Spirit's gift of tongues is now firmly entrenched into those in stout opposition to those mildly inconvenienced,
'well, it's too disorderly, or
'it may send the community the wrong signal, or
'it tends to lack decency, or 'interpretation'.
Be it stanch opposition or mild, what the Biblical tradition has brought us publicly, many Churched bearing His name has now chosen to refuse it publicly, which retains a scant few who use the gift privately, or as He directs towards "the unbeliever" (1 Corinthians 14:22). Is there not any authenticity by God to convince the flock? I have no question it being so, blessed of God beyond any bragging rights.
When the fruit remains, that's your first clue. What fruit? Again, above boasting by any mortal. I will gladly put the spiritual side of His gift up against any mortal's Church protocol they wish to announce as "fruit that has remained". All glory to God the Holy Spirit when He comes to visit the candidate's "clear conscience" Jesus told us to maintain, yet at any time, IN AN INSTANT, uses the child of God to further this heavenly language as he or she walks with Him, nearly always un-announced again and again, thank you Lord! That is what I call using tongues to glorify God privately.
Again, no preparation is in play for the Spirit to visit instantly, giving glory to the King of kings on high!
Any other side to glorifying Him with this please include!
