IS it too late for me to find someone?

I am 39, a sexual abuse survivor, and feel like I missed out in a big way on a guy who I knew in college. I was too shy and traumatized to admit my feelings for him. He married a long time ago. I wonder if he was the last hoorah for me. I am a good person but find it hard to let down my walls completely around men.

Does God really have someone for people like me, or am I doomed to be alone? Just thinking out loud I guess...blessings to all on this site.

gee, it's weird that people look at this...then don't reply...why do i bother?

I DON'T THINK IT'S EVER TOO LATE. IF I WAS YOU, I WOULDN'T DWELL ON WHAT YOU REFER TO AS YOUR MISSED OPPORTUNITY. FROM WHAT YOU SAID, YOU WEREN'T QUITE READY AT THE TIME AND CERTAIN THINGS UNFOLDED THE WAY THEY DID. I CAN'T SAY I KNOW WHAT YOU'VE GONE THRU OR SIT HERE AND SAY THAT I UNDERSTAND BC I DON'T. BUT I SEE DIFFERENT SITUATIONS WORK OUT IN SO MANY WAYS AND YOU CAN JUST NEVER REALLY TELL WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT. APPROACH THAT WITH A CERTAIN LEVEL OF EXCITEMENT AND YOU'LL BE SURPRISED.

Hi Priestessblue,

My heart goes out to you.

One of my elder friends got married for the 1st time this year and he is 41 years of age.

Nobody is the same or at least finds their partner later then other.

i know of only one person who never married and she is now in her 50's but i think she chose it that way.

If you have a desire to live with a partner and get married, it is God who put it there so just hang in there pray about it and go out with an expectation.

Help this helps :)

PS: Sometimes it happens when you expect it the least.

love
xx

Well, firstly, every thread created has more 'reads' than 'responses'. Its also typical to not always get an immediate response. People may read and not respond because they don't have an answer to give. i read a lot more threads than i answer. so if you're going to take it personal, especially if its only been an hour, then you're going to have a hard time on any forum.

Also bear in mind two of the main aspects of marriage are 1) selflessness 2) vulnerability. You cannot have a good marriage if you do not approach it with a desire to serve, rather than what you can get out of it. And in order to do that, you need to make yourself vulnerable in the belief that the other person feels the same way, among other things. Just something to consider.

Am i permitted to be a little *harsh*.. Sorry but i couldn't think of a better word..

Too late, Maybe.. I'm not sure about that..But maybe, just maybe too late.. God knows best though..

Doomed, No. I don't think so!.. Being single doesn't make u doomed. Everybody doesn't have to get married..

Just my personal opinions anyway..

No, it isn't too late. Never in God's Timing anyways, in the world's timing it might be seen this way. But with God, so much of what the world would see as technically impossible can become possible through God. Just a matter of keep on continuing with trusting in God, and keep on having faith. :) As well as keep on praying to Him about this.

God's Blessings!

"Delight in the Lord always and He will give you the desires of your heart."-Psalms 37:4
If your true hearts desire is to get married, then trust God and he will give you that. God isn't punishing you for what's happened to you, if you have the desire to be married, then it will happen. You just have to trust God that it has to be on His time. Also, if you were meant to be with your friend from college, it would have happened, and I don't think it would be, and I think as hard as it is you have to trust God on that, and move forward. You can't spend your life wondering "what if?". You have to make the decision to move forward. Also on a more personal advice rather than spiritual, someone can't get close to you if you won't let them in. So I think you have to work on that too. Maybe seeing a counselor would help you with that. To be in a relationship, or to even date for that matter, you have to be open to it. If you're closed off, people pick up on that. Pray about it and give it to God. He'll take care of the rest. :)
God bless!

I don't think it's "too late" for you. Sometimes God doesn't allow certain things to happen because we might not be ready for it, but it doesn't mean they won't happen. When it comes to finding a suitable partner, there's no age for that.

I have no idea whether or not you will marry, but I will say that there is most certainly nothing 'doomed' about remaining single 'till you breath your last.

Too late to find someone?

---I dunno , is 90 too old to have a baby?

Psst. See Genesis part of bible in I think it's chapter 4 or 5 where God tells Sarah (at how old?) she is going to HAVE A BABY . :)

While there's life, there's hope. My local paper had a feature on 2 people in their 90's getting married last year

People find love at many different ages and many different levels of hurt. If you desire to marry, I think it is possible.

I sent you a reply on Joyce Meyers thing - hope you got it.

You have breath in your body...and a God who is in control! I just turned 41...and I certainly don't feel like I am all washed up...you may not be a teenager anymore but...its waaayyyyyyy tooooo early to be throwing in the towel.

Well I'm about to turn 42 and nowhere near finding someone. I'd say it's too late. I find it way better to be single.

It's never too late. No, never too late. No, never TOO LATE FOR LOVE.

NO, because, sooner or later, love is gonna get ya. Sooner or later, love is gonna GET YA !

JUST make sure God's your first love. I think that can accelerate the 'love of our life' when we understand that fact of life. :)
