Christ founded an infallible Church. He didn't base it "on the Bible alone". True Christianity is based on the Church, the "pillar and ground of the truth". The Bible is not the Pillar and Ground of the Truth. The One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church IS the Pillar and Ground of the Truth (1 Timothy 3:15). True Christianity is not Biblical: It is Trinitarian (of the Holy Trinity alone) and Ecclesiatical (in, of, with, by, and for the Church alone). In Erie PA USA God bless America. Hypothetical situation:

The Bible says do X, Your church says don't do X.

What do you do?


I know you'll want to, and probably will say that the bible and the EOC don't disagree. Hence, the reason it is hypothetical.

I strongly disagree! The Bible and the Bible alone is the Word of God.

Anything added to the Bible or any omissions from the Bible are serious distortions intended to mislead.

Does the Bible say you can understand the Bible unless some man tells you what it means (see Acts 8:30-31)? Do you think everything in the Bible is simple to understand (see 2 Peter 3:15-16). Anything added to the Bible? Sola scriptura is added to the Bible. The Bible alone does not teach "by the Bible alone". It's a Protestant heresy! "A man that is a heretick after the first and second admonition reject...." St. Titus 3:10 KJV.

2 Timothy 3:16 does not say "Scripture only is inspired by God.....". In Erie Scott R. Harrington If the 12 Apostles were not also inspired by God, they were, then, preaching a false gospel in contradiction of the very New Testament that some of them wrote!

Roman Catholicism is not virtually identical to Roman Catholicism. It is Protestantism that is virtually identical to Roman Catholicism. Both Catholicism and Protestantism believe in spiritual individualism: self-authority, private interpretation. Orthodoxy believes in Church Tradition, the Tradition of God and the Holy Apostles, the Work and Presence of the All-Holy Spirit in the Church, and the Communion of Saints of the Church Fathers and 7 Church Councils and the One Church Faith (Jude 3) delivered to all the Church Saints.
True Christianity is described in the Orthodox Church: the Church tells what the Bible means (Acts 8:30-31).
The Catholics believe in the Vicar of Christ, the Pope, a substitute for the absent Holy Spirit, and they believe in the Virgin Mary as a virtual goddess, another substitute for the absent Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is absent from Catholics because of the Filioque heresy. The Holy Spirit is also absent from Protestants because of the Filioque heresy; He is absent because of their Bible idolatry, they substitute a Book, the Bible, for Christ.
Eastern Orthodoxy is based on the Holy Spirit and the Community of Christ: The Spirit and the Bride.
The Church, The Body of Christ. Only Orthodoxy is the Truth.
Catholicism and Protestantism are man-made heresies.
So is Oriental Orthodoxy.

Quite strong words regarding Calvin? I think you have still failed to distinguish between Calvinism and the man Calvin? or Reformed Theology and Calvin. 'Murderer' is also strong language. You do know the whole story don't you? taking into account their culture norms and not reading our culture into a bygone era, you also do no who it was who helped Servitus to escapr from the death squads from Rome don't you, and I presusem you do know who pleaded to the King for mercy on Servitus' behalf don't you? It would have been Calvin by anychance?

Anyhow, I am sure that before putting forth such strong language that you would have researched atleast some preliminary facts, such as Sola Scriptura (Scripture alone) and as such realize that calvin made this call also. I think this may have slipped your attention.

So on the above basis you make a straw man argument.

So the question still remains Scott.

Can we trust fallen man to be infallible, to hold the truth with all integrity? One only has to look at your answer to me above to realize that this cannot be so! Therefore, God has given us His infallible word in Scripture.

Why do you, then, quote Spurgeon, that Calvinism is worth "dying for"? It is better to live for the truth than to try to die for it.
Calvinism, however, is a heresy, and is not the truth. Calvinists are lost in their delusion of double predestination, however. Look what Calvinism produced in South Africa: Anti-Black, anti Non-White Racism.

EO's patriarchs simply keep lower personal profiles and hide behind institutional infallibility....should we talk about some of them personally as sinners?

this EO idea is exactly the same as the modern heretical cousins, the New Apostolic Restoration crowd.

St. Peter sinned too. So what's your point? There is no perfect church in this world. That doesn't mean there is no true Church, or that the Church that Christ founded would not prevail against the gates of hell (Matthew 16:18).

All I know for sure is that I have sinned. I don't know what sins the EO patriarchs have committed, but may God bless them and save them.
