I will tell you what John Ray my teacher told me. If there is something you do not understand please ask I will try and answer it and if I can't I will find out the answer. The other thing is if you don't quite understand something just put it on the shelf and come back to it later.

If we do not understand the beginning how can we understand the ending

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeper upon the earth.

Let us make man in our image: we will pick that up in verse 27. Man was to be over the fish, the birds, the cattle and all the other animals.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Strong's Concordance - Hebrew #H6754

צֶלֶם tselem {tseh'-lem} From an unused root meaning to shade; a phantom, that is, (figuratively) illusion, resemblance; hence a representative figure, especially an idol.

We have a body just as Jesus had, we have a soul, and we have a spirit.

Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that movement upon the earth.

They were given dominion over the fish (fisherman) Fowl of the air and every living that moves upon the earth. (hunters and headsman)

Genesis 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

This last group are gathers of nuts, barriers, fruit anything growing wild.

Genesis 1:30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creeper upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

And that is the way that God intended it to be.

Genesis 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

God saw everything He had made and behold it was very good! Everything that included man, animals, . . . ECT.

Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

The heavens and the earth were finished. The seventh day God had ended all his work and He rested

Genesis 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Everything was finished; or was it?

Genesis 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

Generations Strong's Concordance means history. That is the history for everything from verse 1 of Genesis all the way to Genesis 2:4.

Genesis 2:5

Berean Standard Bible
Now no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth, nor had any plant of the field sprouted; for the LORD God had not yet sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground.

King James Bible
And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

Do not over look what this verse says Genesis 1:30 talked about the trees, plants etc for the wild animals and man. What does this verse say no plant, no herb of the field. There were no crops. No corn, wheat, no barley ect. Why was that? Reason 1 God had not made it rain upon the earth; but that had not stopped the trees and wild plants from growing; Why? They had the waters from day 3 of creation. Reason # 2 This is the big one. If you do not understand the beginning you will never fully understand the end. THERE WAS NO MAN TO TILL THE GROUND. God mad man on the 6th day to be hunters, fishermen, gatherers and herdsman. God had not made a farmer.

Genesis 2:6:But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

The whole ground was wet for the first time. So what did God do? Lets find out.

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

I am going to copy chapter 1:27&28 27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that movement upon the earth.

Using the common sense that God gave you look at these two descriptions and tell me they are the same. Chapter one God created male and female. Chapter 2 says God took the dust of the earth. Genesis 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

This is the first place in the bible where dust is used. It is # 6083 in the Hebrew of the Strong's Concordance. Dust; hence, clay, earth, mud, ashes.

As the potter takes the clay God took the dust of the earth and formed Adam and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. The spirit, and man became a living being. Did God give the people on the 6th day a spirit He sure did just like every other person from the fall of Adam until today 10/11/2022 till Jesus returns. If that is not enough reason to understand who the first man was lets jump to the 2:21-23 21And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

How could Adam and Eve been the first people created on the 6th day if Eve came from Adam's rib and was created countless days after the 6th day of creation.

When we stop and read Gods word with understanding and the leading of the Holy Spirit and leave all the traditions of man to the side Gods word makes sense.

Here is what Jesus said to us,
Mark 13:23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

This is simply laughable as "proof" that Adam was not the first man. You seem to have forgotten (or deliberately ignored) the fact that Genesis 1 is an overview and Genesis 2 goes into the details of the first man and woman.

And lets also not forget that God brought all the animals before Adam and he named them. Dominion over does not mean to hunt and eat. It simply means to have sovereignty or control over. I know this is hard to understand but giving a living creature a name is dominion.

You are right She is the mother of all living. Living in Gods eyes those that have excepted Jesus. You can follow
Eves line to Noah, then you can follow Noah's line to Abraham from Abraham to King David to Mary who was the mother of Jesus. Why do I say Eve rather than Adam The male in that line from Adam to David and on have nothing to do with the birth of Jesus. God was His Father. Eternal Life is the life that God is truly interested in and it comes only from Jesus.
Genesis 3:15And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Seed: Strong's Hebrew 2233: 1) seed, sowing, offspring 1a) a sowing 1b) seed 1c) semen virile 1d) offspring, descendants, posterity, children 1e) of moral quality 1e1) a practitioner of righteousness (fig.) 1f) sowing time (by meton)
Common sence would tell you that Eve could not have been created on the 6th day. God created Eve from the rib meaning curve (my thanking only) DNA. The timeing Eve was created at the end of chapter 2.

Show me where God says that chapter 2 is an overview. Chapter 2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
I had said that chapter 1 was an overview and chapter 2 focused in details regarding Adam and Eve.

OVERVIEW (CHAPTER 1)
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

DETAILS (CHAPTER 2)
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul....
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

So also the details regarding the plant kingdom, and then the creation of the Garden of Eden.

Truth from the Bible Adam and Eve were not the first people on earth

Foolishness. The Creation account is clear. Some think that the Bible is some mysterious book of riddles that only their own mind can decipher. This is foolishness. The Spirit is capable and sufficient and willing to provide understanding to any humble seeker. You have no "transcendent insight." The Bible tells us how God created everything in that first week. He is now creating a Heavenly home for us. God has been gracious in telling us so many things about past, present, and future. We have no need of your additions.

Revelation 22:18
“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:”

I suspect that this might apply to the first book as well as the last.

I dunno man

First off you say John Ray is your teacher then you say the Holy Spirit will lead and basically straighten out for us what the Bible really says so that we can say tootles to all traditions.

Who yah gonna listen to?

Well, traditionally, you have created a rather conflicted op. Just sayin'

Show me where God says that chapter 2 is an overview. Chapter 2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

You shouldn't need to be shown something so straightforward. If you want to be shown, read chapters 1&2 again.
And ditch the bewildered teacher immediately. o_O

One He is not bewillered 2 who ever taught you that chapter 1 is history or a recap or anything else is one of the teachers Paul told you about:
2nd Corinthians 11:12
New International Version
And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about.

New Living Translation
But I will continue doing what I have always done. This will undercut those who are looking for an opportunity to boast that their work is just like ours.

English Standard Version
And what I am doing I will continue to do, in order to undermine the claim of those who would like to claim that in their boasted mission they work on the same terms as we do.

Berean Standard Bible
But I will keep on doing what I am doing, in order to undercut those who want an opportunity to be regarded as our equals in the things of which they boast.

Berean Literal Bible
But what I do, I will continue doing, so that I might cut off the opportunity of those desiring an opportunity that they might be found as also we in what they are boasting.

King James Bible
But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.
11:13
New International Version
For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ.

New Living Translation
These people are false apostles. They are deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ.

English Standard Version
For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.

Berean Standard Bible
For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ.

Berean Literal Bible
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.

King James Bible
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
11:14
New International Version
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

New Living Translation
But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

English Standard Version
And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

Berean Standard Bible
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

Berean Literal Bible
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

King James Bible
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
11:15
New International Version
It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

New Living Translation
So it is no wonder that his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. In the end they will get the punishment their wicked deeds deserve.

English Standard Version
So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

Berean Standard Bible
It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their actions.

Berean Literal Bible
Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.

King James Bible
Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
11:16
New International Version
I repeat: Let no one take me for a fool. But if you do, then tolerate me just as you would a fool, so that I may do a little boasting.

New Living Translation
Again I say, don’t think that I am a fool to talk like this. But even if you do, listen to me, as you would to a foolish person, while I also boast a little.

English Standard Version
I repeat, let no one think me foolish. But even if you do, accept me as a fool, so that I too may boast a little.

Berean Standard Bible
I repeat: Let no one take me for a fool. But if you do, then receive me as a fool, so that I too may boast a little.

Berean Literal Bible
Again I say, no one should think me to be a fool; but if otherwise, receive me even as a fool, that I also may boast a little.

King James Bible
I say again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.

23And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

How could Adam and Eve been the first people created on the 6th day if Eve came from Adam's rib and was created countless days after the 6th day of creation.
It is important to note that God did not create the woman on the 6th day. He created Adam, and gave him dominion over all the earth.

Yes, I am aware of Gen 1:27 which says "in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them". Got it.

But then, we have this in Ch 2-
15 The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;
17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”
18 The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.
20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. But for Adam no suitable helper was found.
21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh.
22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”
24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

From v.15-20 we see all that Adam did while ALONE. And the second sentence in v.20 shows that Adam was alone.

So, in v.21-22 we see that God created the woman but this was AFTER Adam did all that work naming all the creatures God had made.

We have no idea how long that took, but it could not have been just an afternoon's work.

When we stop and read Gods word with understanding and the leading of the Holy Spirit and leave all the traditions of man to the side Gods word makes sense.

Here is what Jesus said to us,
Mark 13:23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.
I didn't see anything in the OP about people existing before Adam. Could you boil it down a bit?

Thanks.

23And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

This man has some VERY INTERESTING insight on the subject. I found it worth thinking about after watching this documentary half a dozen or more times.
It's that important.

I think I'll stick to the plain reading. There is no need for jumping through interpretive hoops to satisfy or reconcile to evolutionists.

chapter one and chapter two are two accounts of the same events one is an overall view the other moves in close to show adams creation

Chapter one an overview

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

chapter two a closer look

These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Chapter one overview of third day

“And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:11-13‬ ‭

chaoter three adding details to the account

“and every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

there’s no man yet because it hasn’t gotten to the details of thier creation but it does

But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:5-9‬ ‭

we even have details of the female creation again chapter one

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

more details of how this came to be

“And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; and the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:21-22, 25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I’d say your teacher is grasping at straws and is susceptible to conspiracy theory

One He is not bewillered 2 who ever taught you that chapter 1 is history or a recap or anything else is one of the teachers Paul told you about.

No one has to teach myself or anyone else. The scripture is written, we read it.
Chapter 1 is God's account of creation. Chapter 2 is further detail about the creation.

If we read the word blue, we don't need some charlatan telling us it says red. Drop the deceptive teacher now.
