Two officers shot, seriously injured outside Ferguson police department


Two police officers were seriously injured in a shooting early Thursday outside the Ferguson, Mo., police department amid new protests following the resignation of the town's embattled police chief.

A 32-year-old officer from suburban Webster Groves was shot in the face and a 41-year-old officer from St. Louis County was shot in the shoulder, St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar said. Both were taken to a local hospital, where Belmar said they were conscious. He said he did not have further details about their conditions but described their injuries as "very serious," but not life-threatening.

The attack was a sniper action, the shots coming from uphill of the Ferguson Police Department building, about 225 yards away. One officer told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch "This is what they wanted to have happen," but a protester nearby told the officer and the reporter that wasn't true.

Still, these idiots have been outside the Ferguson Police Department every night for the last three and a half months, jeering the police at shift change, taunting the officers driving into and out of the department's lockup facility, and blocking the entrance, making it difficult for police and the public to enter or exit the building.

The day the DOJ report claiming a "broken system rife with bias and corruption" existed in the Ferguson criminal justice system, our "president" further attacked the police department and said the city could enter into a settlement agreement with DOJ or be sued. Since the report came out, two officers, a court clerk, the municipal judge, the city manager, and now the police chief have either been fired or resigned.

Obviously, that wasn't enough for some reverse-racist hose head with a gun.
 
Every day someone is shot, murdered, hunted down, and worse. Welcome to the world since the introduction of SIN. Next week will be something else as much if not more atrocious. What are you gonna do about it personally? NOTHING! This CHRISTIAN chatroom is not exactly set up for this kind of VENTING. If it were so, we'd never share JESUS but be a national enguirer of worldly news, such as this.

It is obvious you don't have a clue why this forum is broken up into subsections. As that is the case, why don't you stick to those sections that fit what you think a chat board ought to be, and stop belittling people who take part in these sections?

And talk about venting? You got more gripe in you than the worst curmudgeon I ever knew! If you can't do anything but come on these threads and complain about their existence, stay out of them!
 
I don't get the term reverse racism. Its either racist or not racist IMO. As far as Ferguson goes though, they might as well just shut the police station down. No one respects them or wants them there best I can tell. They don't even have fear working in their favor at the present moment in time. Cops can't do their job without at least some significant level of support from the local population.

You're right. But there are people on here who don't understand that minorities can be, and actually in some cases are, racist.

So just declare anarchy and abandon the city, is that what you're advocating?
 
What needs to be done in Ferguson is what also needs to be done with our political system from the congress all the way to the president. It all needs to be revamped, and let all those there go and bring in new people to replace them.
With the reports being released showing just how corrupt the Ferguson police officers are, and even video showing the mentioned corruption not to many in the community will ever have faith in them unless it is new personnel all the way around.
This however does not give the right for these few individuals to go off half cocked and use deadly force in return.
Do not repay evil for evil...........

Its already anarchy there, im not advocating it. Business owners during the looting pretty much had to defend their property without any assistance. The cops are unable to provide adequate protection for themselves or the public. Its either the cops go full on riot police and beat the population into submission (likely what will happen before its all said and done), keep doing a half job like they are now and continue getting picked off one by one, or withdraw. I don't see withdrawl as something that is likely to actually happen but i dont think it would be a bad idea.

Police officers are only effective when a good part of the population respects them, or if not at least fears them. The cops in ferguson are unable to command neither fear nor respect. Therefore, they are almost completely useless at the moment. The social fabric that acceptance of police presence and authority is based on does not currently exist in Ferguson. As far as the general population is concerned, they consider the police the criminals. I don't see how they can possibly do any good here at all, if I'm missing something I'd be happy to have it pointed out to me.
