Eat slowly. It takes a bit of time for your body to recognise that there is food in the stomach. If possible, eat a few smaller meals each day. Also, change your plate size. Use a smaller, say 8" plate, instead of the 10" plate you probably use now. The less food will then not seem to be depriving you.

Get rid of snacks that have no food value. Cut out sugar wherever possible. It's not easy, but sugar is useless calories that quickly turn to fat. Likewise alcoholic drinks.

Eventually, your body will adapt to smaller portions. If you are single, don't married until you have your weight under control. My wife is my weight watching downfall. (Only partly joking). If you are married, tell her that you want to be fit and well so that you can be a better husband. It might work.

Pray for self control. Ask God for grace to overcome. Don't go on a crash diet. That rarely works out. And make sure that you exercise. You can burn calories as well as cut back on them. Your body will love you for it. Don't get into strenuous workouts at first. That will lead to injury and delay your weight loss.

Exercise also help suppress hunger pangs.

In other words, a bit of common sense goes a long way.

Small, slow changes.
Instead of overhauling your ENTIRE diet all at once, try starting with one or two small, simple swaps.
For example: If you are a soda drinker and drink 6 cans a day, tell yourself the new limit is 5 cans and stick to that.
Once you have mastered 5 cans/ day, reduce it again.
And while you're reducing it, try slowly replacing it with something new.
Example: I had my 5 cans today, now I'm going to drink this flavored water (we can talk more about some of those later, because just because something is presented as a 'healthy' option doesn't always mean it is the best or most beneficial)

What do you consider to be 'healthy food'?

And just so you know, you certainly are not alone here.
I am going through a lot of food/health changes myself.
For my own health/well being (which has been neglected for way to long and when I haven't been neglecting it, I had been going about it all the wrong the way; the 'all or nothing' approach! So, anything I share is because it is what I have recently been learning and applying myself).

My husband has medical conditions, which are best helped by diet and weight management. I've watched the doctors almost fall over in amazement as we have made slow, steady steps/changes that have brought dramatic results (emphasis on the word SLOW). After a recent blood work check, his doctor said "Whatever you're doing, keep doing it!"

I have a teenager, who between hormones and medications, combined with their own mental health struggles/challenges, this is a constant daily struggle for the entire household. For them, food is fuel, but also comfort. One unfortunate side effect of medications is how it affects the body in terms of what you eat and how much. When my child started a medication, we were told "it will increase their appetite" ...
The reality is that it didn't increase in terms of "oh you need more food to function" what it actually did was turn OFF signals in the brain that say "FULL" !!! So now we have to put in more/ extra effort with this child to say "You had x amount of a serving. You're body needs at least 20 minutes to fully digest and absorb and let the 'full' hormones reach your brain. " I was so surprised and excited the other day when out of the blue, not long after an on-the-go snack, I heard this child say "You know what? My tummy feels satisfied right now."

And @777hello77777 give yourself time and grace. Weight and lifestyle changes don't just happen overnight, it takes time. Little by little. Small change on top of small change. If you realized you made a food choice that goes against your goals, don't beat yourself up over it. Acknowledge it as not being good, "That was not the best choice. " and move on. NO name calling or belittling of yourself! ;)

So tough. High volume, low calorie. I like zevia soda. The bubbles keep you full longer. Don't drink your calories (think butter, oil, etc) especially for veggies. They go from 25 calories to 500.

Find snacks that are low calorie. Oats and raspberries are 150. Use a calorie calculator at first. Potatoes get a bad rap, but low in calories and keep you full. Don't use butter though.

Then eat mostly what you want for dinner only. Men don't lose weight easier. A steak and potato might only be 500 calories and your chicken salad is 1500.

These are the secrets I discovered that helped me lose weight after having kids and getting older.

Cut out all junk food.
Eat plenty of animal meat and fats.
Exercise.
Get rid of any junk food in your place of residence and don't replace it. Cut down on the amount of food you have at your place of residence. Don't eat out. Only eat what you've got in the house.
Consider some fasting for the purpose of weight loss. Don't just skip a meal, that lowers your BMR. Skip a few meals in a row, that won't lower your BMR and it'll shrink your stomach a bit. After fasting, ease back into eating so you don't overeat to make up for the missed meals.
When you're craving a snack, maybe munch on a carrot or stick of celery.

Diets are hard to keep because you're basically just grinding while trying to meet a goal. Diets are about trying, failing and trying again while going nowhere fast.

My suggestion is first believing that you're already healthy and working it out from there. Because i believed that i was already healthy i would just do things out of that belief to support it and over time i lost 85lbs with no diet and no work out schedule.
