Unconditional love revisited:

Love must have conditions to be love, right?

Such as the condition that you must have faith in Jesus and love him and love your fellow human beings, or you will go to hell.

See that is the condition Gods love has on us.

I suppose it means to love someone regardless of how circumstances, conditions, or situations may change; "For better or worse, in sickness and in health, till death do us part".
Reminded me a bit of that Ed Sheeran song... "When your legs don't work like they used to before And I can't sweep you off of your feet...... When my hair's all but gone and my memory fades, And the crowds don't remember my name, When my hands don't play the strings the same way, mm, I know you will still love me the same......"

"And darling I will be loving you 'til we're 70"

(But then after 70 forget it???!! Lol)
:D  :p

There is no unconditional love except for Jehovah the Most High , Maker , Owner , Provider etc every other love or hate is contingent upon loving what Jehovah loves and Hating what Jehovah hates ......

In a marriage, or relationship, what is unconditional love?
Unconditional love is knowing that the relationship may not work but still hoping the other person finds happiness and joy in their life, even if you aren't a part of it.

It is being commited to marriage even after fights and learning to communicate and forgive and ask for forgiveness....it is loyal and kind and patient.

Probably could say more but will read thread first

Jesus…said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor…and come, take up the cross, and follow Me." - (Mark 10:21).

The rich young ruler had the controlling passion to be perfect. When he saw Jesus Christ, he wanted to be like Him. Our Lord never places anyone’s personal holiness above everything else when He calls a disciple. Jesus’ primary consideration is my absolute annihilation of my right to myself and my identification with Him, which means having a relationship with Him in which there are no other relationships. This is the condition to unconditional love in our life.

(Luke 14:26) has nothing to do with salvation or sanctification, but deals solely with unconditional identification with Jesus Christ. Very few of us truly know what is meant by the absolute “forwardness” of unconditional identification with, and abandonment and surrender to, Jesus.

“Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him…” (Mark 10:21). This look of Jesus will require breaking your heart away forever from allegiance to any other person or thing, for God is love; as He is unconditional; and must first love us unconditionally. Has Jesus ever looked in this way at you? This look of Jesus transforms, penetrates, and captivates. Where you are soft and pliable with God is where the Lord has looked at you. If you are hard and vindictive, insistent on having your own way, and always certain that the other person is more likely to be in the wrong than you are, then there are whole areas of your nature that have never been transformed by His gaze.

“One thing you lack….” From Jesus Christ’s perspective, oneness with Him, (the unconditional part of love) with nothing between, is the only good thing.

“…sell whatever you have….” I must humble myself until I am merely a living person. I must essentially renounce possessions of all kinds, not for salvation (for only one thing saves a person and that is absolute reliance in faith upon Jesus Christ), but to follow Jesus. “…come…and follow Me.” And the road is the way He went.

Our danger is to water down God’s word to suit ourselves. God never fits His word to suit me; He fits me to suit His word. Therefore unconditional love is love on God's terms - period, whether it be a marriage, or a friendship, or an enemy, where He receives the glory for things that go beyond us yet in us and thru us.

Tell me which is better. A woman who helps the homeless man because she has compassion on him.
or the man who helps the homeless person because he is suppose to love him because he is a Christian?

Loving someone with no conditions added is a Godly Love.
Loving someone because of conditions is not a Godly Love.

i do not love Jesus because if i don't i will go to hell. i love Jesus because what He did for me, and does for me today.
