what are these dark sentences that the Man of Sin understand? Should we understand these dark sentences so we are not in the dark?

Daniel 8:23
And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

In reference to this thread, I was intrigued by the phrase. I don’t remember reading it before, but I know I did, because I have read Daniel more than once. Now that I have gotten the assets of the pictorial Hebrew language, that is unique, I have looked into the depth of the phase according to the Hebrew.

Understanding=Strongs # 995
Hebrew word= “biyn”/pronounced bene
Meaning=distinguishing as to separate mentally, related to the spiritual realm, giving power to a spherical perception of knowledge.

Dark sentences is one Hebrew word=Strongs #2420
Hebrew word= “chiydah”/pronounced khee-daw
Meaning=a puzzle, a trick, or conundrum of hard questions of proverbial riddles, weaving together differences to the inner perception of mental deception.

“dark sentences” is related to the Hebrew word “chuwd”/pronounced khood, meaning to hook, add, and secure into a realm of division. I will add also, that it could instigate the phrase “agreeing to disagree” for the purpose of feeling a sense of togetherness.

Scriptures that came to mind while reading this.

Romans 1:28 (KJV)
[SUP]28 [/SUP]And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
1 Corinthians 14:33 (KJV)
[SUP]33 [/SUP]For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Looking at Matthew chapter 24, I do believe that we are on these grounds today.
We can see all this in the Christian realm, the secular realm, the world affairs, and the United States administration, along with many other examples that I need not mention.

How Christians should combat this immense power of deception, for tody is a dangerous time.
Philippians 4:8-9 (KJV)
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Complete Jewish Bible: Daniel 8:23
23 In the latter part of their reign, when the evildoers have become as evil as possible, there will arise an arrogant king skilled in intrigue.

Direct from the Hebrew language: Daniel 8:23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors have completed their transgression, there shall stand up a king of fierce countenance, and understanding stratagems.
[h=2]strat·a·gem[/h] [strat-uh-juhm]
noun
1.
a plan, scheme, or trick for surprising or deceiving an enemy.
2.
any artifice, ruse, or trick devised or used to attain a goal or to gain an advantage over an adversary or competitor: business stratagems.

On the issue of whether Saturday or Sunday is the Sabbath, and I'm just throwing this out there, in practice Sunday is the last day of the week. Consider that we call Saturday and Sunday the week-end. We don't truly consider the week started until Monday even tho the calendar says differently. Too, didn't the Jews observe Saturday, and so to be differentiated from them Christians embraced Sunday?

Granted these are weak arguments. I'm just positing them as something to consider.

On all the calendars that I have ever had
sunday was always listed as the first day
of the week.

This is how it was in the beginning and
nothing can change that.

When people get off work friday afternoon,
what do they say to each other?

Have a good week-end.

The week ends friday afternoon when the
sun goes down.

The next day is the seventh day, the day of
rest that God blessed and what He has
blessed is blessed forever.

"The matter of salvation is just as simple as ABC. But we don't understand it." Faith & Works,64.

First "Jesus loves to have us come to Him just as we are, sinful, helpless, dependent." Idem,38.

All who acknowledge themselves to be sinful, helpless, dependent, are among the poor in spirit. Such know that they cannot save themselves or of themselves do any righteous action and they are blessed.

To them is the Gospel revealed.

"The Gospel is to be preached to the poor. Not to the spiritually proud, those who claim to be rich and in need of nothing, is it revealed, but to those who are humble and contrite. One fountain only has been opened for sin, a fountain for the poor in spirit." D.A.300.

"Those who know that they cannot possibly save themselves, or of themselves do any righteous action, are the ones who appreciate the help that Christ can bestow. They are the poor in spirit, whom He declares to be blessed." M.B.7.

These are invited to

"Present their case before God PLEADING the MERITS of the blood shed for them upon Calvary's cross." Faith & Works, 106.

"The ONLY WAY to attain to righteousness is through faith. By faith the sinner can BRING to God the MERITS of Christ." Idem,101.

This is the Bible truth on this subject that is so necessary to our present and eternal welfare that not one in one hundred understands for himself. (1 S.M.360)

This is the simple Gospel truth which makes the unsearchable riches of Christ available to the believer.

Do you believe implicitly that the MERITS of a crucified and risen Saviour are SUFFICIENT to present to the Father in your behalf in order to obtain the gift that cannot be excelled, the gift of the Holy Spirit that brings all the blessings of the covenant of grace to make you a vessel fit for the Master's use?

If you do you are greatly blessed and the Lord will rise upon you and His glory shall be seen upon you. (Isaiah 60:1)

On another forum:

LW does have a point that you do nothing but regurgitate Sister White, regardless of whether you are right or wrong. By this you show that you have no foundation on which to stand during the final crisis.
__________

You say I have no foundation on which to stand. May I ask what yours is? Here is mine: "The MERITS of Christ's SACRIFICE are the FOUNDATION of the CHRISTIAN'S FAITH." The Great Controversy,73.

Pray tell me, should we talk of or extol our merits instead? Would that be more acceptable?

"Shall selfishness come into your hearts? And will those who set not before them the Pattern, Jesus, extol your merits? You have none except as they come through Jesus Christ." Bible Commentary, Vol.5,1128.

The importance of extolling the merits of Christ before the people was at the very heart of the most precious message the Lord sent to us over a century ago.

"How long will you hate and despise the messengers of God's righteousness? God has given them His message. They bear the Word of the Lord: There is SALVATION for you but ONLY through the MERITS of Jesus Christ. The grace of the Holy Spirit has been offered to you again and again." T.M.96-97.

If there was a time when these statements needed to be "regurgitated" it is now for this is the light that is to lighten the earth with its glory.
__________

EGW is not our foundation, the Word of God is. And if you cannot substantiate your ideas/opinions/views from the Word and the Word alone, your faith will be swept away as surely as the house that is built on sand.

AVITW
__________

It is not Ellen White that is the foundation but the Word the Lord declared through her was the foundation of the Christian's faith, namely the merits of a crucified and risen Savior.

This is the truth the Reformers discovered from studying the Scriptures. One of them wrote,

"Father, we had devised for ourselves many useless follies but, but You have placed Your Word before me like a torch, and Youb have touched my heart, in order that I may hold in abomination all other MERITS save those of Jesus." The Great Controversy, p.221.

Luther wrote, "Do not look for salvation in your own strength or in your good works, but in the MERITS of Christ and in God's grace." History of the Reformation of the Sixteenth Century, D'Aubigne, p.78.
__________

Furthermore, you seem to not be able to form a reply without continually repeating merits, merits, merits, merits, etc. from Sister White's writings. You are hammering this in the wrong way. Instead of repeating the same phrase time and time again, which only alludes to the idea that you do not fully comprehend what the author means and what the term merits means, you should at least try to rephrase the quote in your own words without relying on a single word, which through a mindless repetition has lost its meaning to those to whom you keep hammering this to. You are only causing harm to the work of truth.
__________

To this I will reply with the words of the apostle Paul, "To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not irksome (tedious); but for you it is safe." Phil.3:1.

Are we not on safe grounds and even on holy grounds when we are extolling the merits of Christ as our holy hope?

"Our only hope is in the MERITS of a crucified and risen Saviour." G.C.471.

When the Holy Spirit through the apostle Paul declared that "Christ is our propitiation through faith in His blood," (Rom.3:25) was he not basically saying that the merits of Christ's sacrifice are the FOUNDATION of the Christian's faith?

"The people to whom God has entrusted eternal interests, the depositaries of truth pregnant with eternal results, the keepers of light that is to illuminate the whole world, have LOST THEIR BEARINGS." T.M.397.

Is it not time that we find our bearings back? We have been wandering in this wilderness of sin and sorrow for decades as did the children of Israel.

As they wandered into the wilderness, the Israelites were murmuring and the Lord allowed them to be bitten by fiery serpents. With the poison in their wounds they humbled themselves before God and they came to Moses with their confessions and entreaties. "We have sinned," they said, "for we have spoken against the Lord, and against you."

Moses was divinely commanded to make a serpent of brass resembling the living ones, and to elevate it among the people.

"The lifting up of the brazen serpent was to teach Israel an important lesson." P.P.430.

"By looking upon that serpent their faith was shown. They knew that there was no virtue in the serpent itself, but it was a symbol of Christ; and the NECESSITY of FAITH in His MERITS was thus PRESENTED to their minds." Idem,430.

To look upon the serpent of brass which was a symbol of Christ was to teach them the necessity of trusting wholly in the merits of a Saviour to come. Those who accepted the provision made were healed from the poison in their wounds but those who refused this provision perished.

The lesson for us today:

"Though millions who need to be healed will reject His offered mercy, NOT ONE WHO TRUSTS IN HIS MERITS WILL BE LEFT TO PERISH." Idem,432.

Are we not on safe grounds here, then, by trusting in His merits and in His merits alone?

"Faith is the condition upon which God has seen fit to promise pardon to sinners. Not that there is any virtue in faith whereby salvation is merited, but because FAITH can LAY HOLD of the MERITS of Christ, the REMEDY provided for sin." Faith & Works,100-101.

Brothers and sisters, if we are willing to see and understand, this is the very message which was presented to our people in 1888 and which was resisted! It is a message which is appropriate for this time, which is to be received, believed, and acted upon. It is the third angel's message which is to be proclaimed with a loud voice and attended with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in large measure for, "Looking unto Jesus and trusting in His MERITS we appropriate the blessings of light and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit." Testimonies, vol.5,744.

Why is the 7th day sabbath a dark sentence to many?

The calendar shows what day is the 7th day of the week

The dictionary shows what day is the 7th day of the week

The word of God shows what day is the 7th day of the week

Yet the Christian world think the 1st day is the 7th day of the week!

Where is the light in this thinking

The AOD understands that Jesus was not born on December 25

He also understands that Jesus did not die Friday and rise sunday morning

He know that no math can get 3 days and 3 nights from friday to Sunday morning

He knows that the earth is older than the sum stars and moon

he knows that many are called to God and few are chosen by God

Amos 3:1-2 KJV
[1] Hear this word that the Lord hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying, [2] You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

Here is a dark sentence that most don't know. Out of all the nations on earth why is Israel The Lord only knows?

Who did God give his answers and administration to? I know this is not taught in the churches which make it a dark sentence

Romans 3:1-2 KJV
[1] What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? [2] Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.

Romans 9:3-4 KJV
[3] For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: [4] Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God , and the promises;

This is in the NT and it is never spoken in church yet the AC will have knowledge of this!

Ezekiel 28:2-3 KJV
[2] Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God ; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God: [3] Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee:

There is nothing that can be hid from satan

This AOD get his power from satan so this man of fierce countenance understanding dark sentences

2 Thessalonians 2:3-9 KJV
[3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come , except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; [4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. [5] Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? [6] And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. [7] For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let , until he be taken out of the way. [8] And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: [9] Even him , whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
