The belief that Christians can be flawless (sinless) yet still be seriously flawed (sinful) is taught no where in scripture. In fact, scripture says quite the opposite:
"For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and the devil?" ~ 2 Corinthians 6:14b-15a
This is bad theology based on half truths. Over the past decade, this belief has become commonly referred to as "Hyper Grace" theology.
Unfortunately, many in certain denominations refuse to accept the fact that imputed righteousness, by nature, is both positional and relational. Yes, the imputed righteousness of Christ does place (position) us "in Christ" at the point of salvation. However, just as God provided daily bread (manna) for the Israelites in the desert, believers are to partake of (dwell in, put on) the righteousness of Christ daily. This is the reason why scripture teaches us that God's mercy (grace) is made new every day. [Lam. 3:22-24]
