What exactlyis a stronghold? This can be describeddifferently by different
people. Do you know where the strongholds are in your life? They are those
things that keep pulling youback and keeping you from progressing with
God.
And what is so scary and worrisome is it means different things to different people how can this be?It’s simple delusion, illusion, trickery, and deception; a stronghold is an incorrect thinking pattern that has molded itself into our way of thinking.
These strongholds have the capability to affect our feelings, how we respond tovarious situations in life, and they play a large role in our spiritual freedom. These strongholds then become the catalyst that motivates us to inaction in most cases and panic when we feel overwhelmed.Somehow, in spite of all our failures, we convince ourselves that we can overcome this thing on our own.
We try harder with our lips but our actions are not even close to really trying,we just go through the motions to fool ourselves and others.
We draw up all the will power we can muster and determine that we will not do it again and somehow that will be that end of it. Then, after a few days, a month, or maybe even ayear, the enemy creeps out of one of the many or maybe single stronghold and attacks us again, and sometimes we fall again.
After a while we realize that we have no joy, no victory, no peace and we serious consider giving up and goingback to our personal Egypt and willingly give ourselves back into the slavery of sin. Where do strongholds come from? Well that is simple too. They come from disconnection to truth and walking in self. Strongholds are built upon deception and error. These errors and deceptions which form strongholds can come from a wide variety of sources, including our environment, those around us, our parents, our belief structure, and our associates by transference or even demon spirits.
I have seen where people have picked up a demon from another person because of a door in their life being left open to access to the enemy, and then the demon quickly builds one or more strongholds in their mind that must be later torn down. The intruder knows it only has limited time to do as much damage as it cab before being discovered, it will often bring in three to seven more spirits depending on the severity of the sin or willful ignorance.
This coupled with active ignorance and disobedience spell disaster for us all. Now some of these demonic strongholds will lie in wait for years undiscovered until one day all hellbreaks loose in the life of the infected person. A person who has a demon behind their stronghold(s) may find it nearly impossible to tear them down and keep down fear and lack of desire keep the person busy while the enemy is working hard at rebuilding and holding those strongholds in place. They will be countering that person's efforts to tear them down every day every way and they do not play fair or respect rules of engagement.
It is war and they get down and dirty weather we want to or not, they go for the juggler vein. It will seem as if we are hitting a brick wall, and even if we seem to make some small progress,it seems like our efforts are in vain because it keeps coming back. We have a hard time dealing with the fact that we are under attack and not equipped to fight in the war waged against us. If this is the case, then the person likely has a demonically influenced stronghold which is inside them rebuilding and trying to hold that stronghold in place. The stronghold and demon influences should be driven out in Jesus'name, and then the stronghold will come down much easier and not be so quick to return. If you want that stronghold to come down, go to the Word of God and listen to what He tells you.
It may not make sense on a human level. It may stretch and challenge your faith, but you must get a word from God into your spirit, into your situation and circumstance and then results will happen but only if theWord of God is received. Most people don’t know the gravity of how stronghold takes place or takes control of ou rlives. Since strongholds are built upon error and falsehood, it is through the truth that you tear down such faulty thinking patterns. All truth is not the truth I’ve said that before there are many truths but only one real TRUTH!
Remember the word of God tells us the truth makes us and keeps us free. Now look all how these walls and strongholds are built when we accept and receive error and begin to meditate on them. It forms in our minds what is known as an imagination, that is, a false concept that we believe to be true, but inreality is not. We then begin to allowour fears to mold the way we receive the truth and sometimes we cut it off altogether.
The Bible speaks about these imaginations clearly, and shows us how they can betorn down: 2 Corinthians 10:4, "(Forthe weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds Casting down imaginations, and every high thingthat exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." When we walk in truth and understand spiritual things we then realize that we can’t allow these things to stand in our lives. We know that strongholds and imaginations must be cast down and this will be done by us being transformed through the renewing of our minds:
Romans 12:2, "And be notconformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will ofGod."
As our minds are renewed, the enemy will come against us as we begin to walk in truth, when we begin to prove (discern) what is good,acceptable and perfect, and the will of God the devil gets angry. These things are the very things that strongholds rise themselves against! A lot of believers hold on to past hurts and past pains out of fear of releasing them, which keeps them in bondage to the past and hurt pains.
It is so hard for them to realize it is healthy and good to disassociate themselves from their past. Their mindsneed to be renewed, and as those strongholds come down they will be able to see God's will and respond. This can only bedone as God is given a place to work, we must repent, renounce, revive and renew to move forward.As we meditate and wash our minds with God's Word, we will be transformed by the renewing of our minds, and we will come to know the will of God, and discern what is right, perfect and good.
Our strongholds,which are based upon error and deception, will not stand a chance as the light of God's Word (truth) is shed upon those areas of our minds. We must be honest though because any lie orhalf-truth is an open invitation to the stronghold to come in and have legal rights to be there. I understand that lack of knowledge and ignorance cause many people make strongholds out to be a complex subject. Strongholds are merely incorrect thinking patterns. For example, a common scenario is because I have committed adultery and cheated and lied I now feel dirty, guilty and I’mshameful of my past.
I’m so used to thinking about my sinful past, that it's driven me to constantly feel unworthy or like a failure! I feel unloved and worthless in my attempt to have a close intimate relationship with God again even after he has forgiven me, whichgreatly affects their spiritual strength, faith, and relationship with Him. This starts in the mind which is the main battlefield as I mentioned before. He start smy day each day by reminding me of my past failures and sins. He brings up things I know deep down inside I ought not to be dwelling upon, and tries to make me agree with him on how badly I/ we failed.
We then have the choice to listen and agree with him, or listen to God's Word (which is telling us that those sins have been washed away). Now it’s no longer if but because of oppressionit’s when, because when we take the devil's bait and begin to mediate on our failures, it will begin to pull us down spiritually and strongholds will develop. We will begin to see ourselves as failures because we've taken thebait and chose to meditate on a lie that the devil has fed us!
This is how a strong hold is formed, and look people it’s called a stronghold for a reason. Not because it is a weak hold. A strong hold has a grip on you it is intertwined with the thoughts and desires to be free. It has others helping keep the hold in place. Look at it like this one stronghold may not hold you, two may struggle, three cannot get you in aplace of being off balance, four can wreak havoc, five can subdue you and render you ineffective, six can make you do or say things that are not your own words, seven means you are in serious trouble. Now ask yourself how many strongholds have I set up in my, our/lives that are actively operating right now?
Scary stuff that the devil knows we don’t consider so he attacks us with small things that gain power the longer that are there and get so bold to invite in other stronghold friends. Think on it.
