I think there is tremendous utility in looking at why people cheer a murderer and couldn't care less about Brian Thompson. I don't mean to speak for everyone here, but I think (and hope) we all agree Brian Thompson didn't deserve to die. Most of us probably come to the conclusion because we understand that murder is always wrong. I've talked to several people who do in fact think Luigi Mangione is a patriotic hero so I could get a better understanding from their secular perspective.
They view Brian Thompson as a pseudo serial killer by the fact he/UHC used an algorithm to automatically deny 33% of claims for people in need of life threatening medical care. It's not even an opinion that UHC has a higher denial rate than the other carriers (which are also disliked). If the reports on this are true, as there hasn't been anything to debunk the data thus far, then I could agree Brian Thompson was acting unethically and outside the law, I would think of him as a not-so-good guy. This doesn't change my position that murder is always wrong and that his life is not worthless and disposable in spite of him screwing tens of thousands of people out of medical care that were entitled to.
When we only look at the surface level of people "glorifying Luigi", it's easy to ignore one of the biggest issues we are facing in the US.... our broken health care system. I pray God can use this tragedy for good. Perhaps the good is people are made aware of the corruption in the private health care industry... That they are in bed with our politicians... That we can't trust greedy people to make health care decisions on our behalf. God has proven He can turn someone's bad into a good.
Yeah, it's odd that he had all the evidence (including the manifesto) with him at the McDonald's only for he and his lawyer to say he is innocent. Like what the heck?

"That totally never happens" was sarcastic, but I'm unaware of the frequency a murderer writes a manifesto (which was reportedly on him) only to deny he did it. Murderers who never wrote a manifesto often times claim they are innocent... but that isn't what happened here. Do you understand the difference?
This is true when Republicans were fearmongering during/after the Bush admin, but seeing Democrats and Republicans in the same economic class coming together about the corruption that is going on here makes me think perhaps the majority of people are open to something other than privatized health care that we all hate. The problem is that the higher class Republicans and most Democrats don't want this to happen. How will they finance their reelections without all the contributions they get? So we end up voting for candidates that support our political ideology, EXCEPT for when it comes to health care.

I don't often agree with Moore, but he was pretty spot on back in 2007 about the health care system back when most of you were praising Bush. I respect that he recently made his movie free on YouTube. I'll be rewatching it this weekend and wanted to let anyone who cares know.
You might be right about that. I don't know what it is, but I think there has to be a pragmatic solution that will be acceptable to both advocates of socialized medicine and free-market advocates.
If the Luigi trend continues, they're going to have a lot more problems than figuring out how to get contributions.
And housing- the other largest expense the average person has. Politicians avoid that topic like the plague.
