Unsweetened baker's cocoa powder works as a digestive aid for me. I have Candida and IBS, and allergies. But lately, I am able to prevent myself from getting constipated, through eating a teaspoonful of this with every meal. Taking this powder might bother some people's stomach's at least temporarily. It used to make me throw up if I ate more than a teaspoonful of it per day. But not any more.

Hi Myrtle Trees,

Organic cocoa is a super food. I like it too.
What made you decide to go with cocoa for your specific challenges?

This is one of the research & teaching doctors that I study. He happened to touch on your topic on this morning's class.
In case you are interested, he is the expert when it comes to one of the most popular food categories of the past century.
Dr. Osborne is know as the grain doctor.
His information is backed up by some of the other great physicians I've studied for years too. Here is a simple introduction.

I went with cocoa, because other natural remedies I was using, had stopped working that well. New remedies I try, sometimes work a while, but then stop working or don't work as well as at first. The cocoa is presently working better than other things I've tried - for preventing and overcoming my tendencies for constipation. It also seems to help somewhat, to relieve UTI from candida overgrowth, in me. I just use ordinary baker's cocoa that I get in grocery stores. Though I know there may be better forms of it around. But I have to watch our budget - we are low income people.

Thanks, but in my case, I've found that abstaining from grains does no good. It may help some people, but not me. I have digestive difficulties no matter what I eat. All food seems to bother me equally. But I'm glad I've been able to find natural foods I use as remedies that do give some relief to my condition.

I think it's wonderful that you are so proactive and continue seeking ways to correct the challenge.

I can't say that grains are "the problem", just that they are a very common problem that can indeed aggravate digestive conditions and even that of unrelated foods. The following is one more from Dr. Osborne about the time frame that even a small amount can cause some with severe sensitivity to react. One thing that I try to answer when I read about similar cases is the underlying factor(s). "Why is the body reacting in hypersensitivity to so many foods?"
I'm sure you have asked yourself that many times. I will pray that the Lord will reveal the answer. Perhaps He will direct you to someone who may help too.

Here's a short description of how long a minute amount of the gluten can cause some havock. That will be plenty for now.

Hi! Yes, so I see you realize it doesn't help everyone with candida to abstain from gluten (though it helps some people). That's how it is with me. I also recently read online about a lady who had Candida, remedied it eventually through a natural health doctor that recommended to her to use herbs and supplements for it, rather than suggesting a dietary change. That certain doctor saw no permanent remedy as being possible through dietary change - he felt a dietary change might give symptomatic relief, but didn't deal with the underlying cause of it. Yes, I pray regularly for God's help and guidance in remedying my Candida, and have had good success though not perfect success. But any success is something to be thankful for!
