A homeless man asked me for money to buy food.
I gave him all my loose change because I didn't want to be rude.
He thanked me and called me "Dear".
Then used my money to buy beer.
The sun is golden and so is honey,
That's the last time I'll give the homeless money.
 
I've seen it happen many times.
Yet if you don't give it feels like a crime.
Better to give to a homeless charity or volunteer group
Who hands out clothes, a bed for the night and soup.

Give to a place that provides them beds.
That was good advice to say,
Hoping you have a very nice day!
 
A beggar on the street
Wrote words on a sheet
Of cardboard that said,
"Will work for food or monnn -neee
But I'll take anything you can
Giiive-meee! As long as it's
Monn-nee!!"
 
Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back.

Even the why no.
 
Yes scripture says give to the poor
But what to do if they ask for more
Than you can give?
It takes all you have
Sometimes..To live.

Not that I don't care
But maybe I don't always
have enough to share.
 
I'm trying to be real
Just sharing how I feel
Not trying to give heat
Scripture also says if a man don't
Work
He will not eat.
 
So I decided to take the bull
By it's horn
And visited a homeless shelter
Early this morn
To donate linens and canned fruits
And one or two of hubby's
Gently used suits
Afterwards I felt so fine that
If you tossed me into the sky
I'd turn to sun-shine.
 
Skeptic to beggar: Hey dude,
How rude,
To beat people out of their money.
Must be fun,
To employ such a con,
You say you're homeless?
Please! ! I've seen the place you lease.
It's better than mine,
With floors of pine.
Hey get off the street,
You bloody cheat!!
 
Christian: What would Jesus do?
Seriously, I'm asking you?

Homeless Rick: What would Jesus do?
Christian :He'd heal you.
Homeless Rick:I ain't sick.
 
Lady mockingbird: "Trill Lill Lill,
Lady sickbird angrily :Stop that singing!
Can't you see that I'm ill?
Mockingbird:Oh hush up grumpy,
Your head is so lumpy,
Your feathers are so frumpy,
Sickbird :Go away pest!
Can't a sickly bird rest?
In peace? At least,
Once in a while?
Mockingbird:Nope you
Dope.All you do is
Mope. You act as though,
There is no hope.
Sickbird, cunningly :Come closer ma'am.
And when the mockingbird did she pulled out a b.b gun ...and bam!!

These birds ain't got no sense,
Hey bird!!Stop the violence!!
sickbird defensively :Well she started it.
Homeless Rick consideringly :That might be true,
But ask yourself this, what would
Jesus do?
 
I know that some may not understand the point of these poems..and some might even think that I'm making fun of the homeless but I'm not. Most of what I have written have been things that I have observed. .accept for the mockingbird and sick bird poems. Homeless Rick is a real person. .though that's not his name. I've often bought him lunch and hubby and I have paid for his motel room many times just to get him off the streets.Being homeless is certainly nothing to make light of..However there are some homeless who can do better for themselves but refuse to try for whatever reason.
 
the places that Jesus puts inside of our hearts are our, ours alone to do with as He leads and allows -
don't ever let what others would judge for you to do with your heart -
always, always, try and do what He would do for you...
 
Jesus whom I adore,
Always fed the poor,
He is the door,
Into love,
His grace is sufficient you see,
To save a wretch like me.

Homeless man with dignity :Not every bum you meet,
On the street ,
Is on crack,

I gave a poor man a dollar
And he grabbed me by the collar
And told me what I could do with it
It had to do with stuffing it
Into the place I sit
Upon...
Gee what fun!!!
That was the day I learned
how fast I could run!!!
 
when I offered a man a meal he refused
I saw that he would steal my coat
I didn't care about that coat,
but it really did get my goat...
 
This thread is one of mirth and fun,
yet it’s also a serious one.
To give or not to give that is the question
Maybe it all comes down to the real intention. :)
