Okay I'm going to make this short. I'm an atheist who denies the existance of God.
To do so would require you to be capable of knowing all things logically possible to know. This is one of the attributes of God. Thus, denying God on such a basis would be creating a God on that basis.
I've never witnessed or experienced anything supernatural so I assume that it doesn't exist.
Close to a False Dilemna Logical Fallacy, however, this I won't push.
The Bible (especially the old testament) seems mythological.
Only to the Scientific Naturalist.
In this universe with billions of galaxies that contain billions of stars we seem to be insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
Without a God, we are insignificant. Without a God, there are no Objective morals, no Objective meaning to life, no Objective value to life. The suffering we encounter is just pointless unredeeming suffering, in an indifferent amoral universe.
I don't know exactly how the universe started but it seems more logical to me that it was randomly created with no purpose because I don't why God or some supreme entity would leave all this empty space devoid of life.
1) That which begins to exist, requires a cause
2) The Universe began to exist
3) Follows from 1) and 2), that the universe requires a cause
4) That cause must be an uncaused first case, that is timeless, spaceless, immaterial, and a mind/attaining personhood. (I.E. God)
The atheist has really only two options. The atheist must deny one of the two premises. (4 is just expounding upon 3) )
You either deny that things which begin to exist require a cause, thus becoming a man of faith, or that he universe began to exist, thus, making you a man of faith.
I can't have faith in ideas that seem illogical to the things I see and know.
Logic isn't a matter of perception, this would make it subjective and leave the realm of logic and reason.
If you're interested, the existance of Laws of Logic (Logical absolutes) presupposes the existance of God.
