Food For Thought
Reading from (1 Samuel 25) we read about a woman named Abigail and her husband whose name was Nabal. Scripture describes Abigail as a beautiful and intelligent woman, and scripture also describes Nabal her husband as a mean surely man. Sometimes we as men get in our own way, when GOD is trying to establish meaning and purpose; we choose to see it as unnecessary change.
Men throughout the ages including myself have refused to change based on feelings suppressed in our hearts of how right we know we are. Most would call this pride and it is in that pride many a men and many a nation has been destroyed. GOD opposes the proud (1 Corinthians 1:27) Nabal a man who himself thought he deserved all that he had and that it was his right and his alone to decide where it should go. Scripture teaches us pride comes before destruction (Proverbs 16:18).
This same pride can be found in women, vanity is a very distinctive destroyer it lessens the heart of the person and removes them from GOD’S grace.
Obadiah 1: [SUP]2 [/SUP]“See, I will make you small among the nations;
you will be utterly despised.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]The pride of your heart has deceived you,
you who live in the clefts of the rocks
and make your home on the heights,
you who say to yourself,
‘Who can bring me down to the ground?’
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Though you soar like the eagle
and make your nest among the stars,
from there I will bring you down,”
declares the Lord.
Fortunately for those of us who have been paired with beautiful and intelligent women as described here in scripture, with visions not impaired by their vanity (excessive pride in one's appearance, qualities, abilities, achievements, character or quality of being vain; conceit
but by the grace and favor giving by the Father in Heaven. The doorway is open, GOD has given you all of the tools to use like he did with Abigail, and it was her gift of reasoning that found favor in the eyes of David.
