Know this: If you say you seek the deeper, richer, peaceful, wise ways of God and then spew forth bitterness and slander born from a jealous heart, it will undermind your testimony faster than anything.

Even when you speak clandestinely (or so you believe), understand that poison is leaking out of your mouth and it is defiling your soul in more ways than you can comprehend. It damages YOU more than the one you speak against...most of the time.

Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him 'unclean.'"
~ Mark 7:15

The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.
~ Luke 6:45

Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. ~ Proverbs 4:23

Even when you speak clandestinely (or so you believe),

I've found that there is no such thing as clandestine in the long run. Those who gossip and slander invariably get bitten by their own destructive habit.

Eccl 12:14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

Matt 10:26 So do not be afraid of them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.

1 Cor 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.

I have no idea what clandestinely means, but I agree with the rest :)

Now you do :)

clan·des·tine/klanˈdestin/

Adjective:Kept secret or done secretively, esp. because illicit.
Synonyms:secret - surreptitious - undercover - furtive - privy

Even harder....it's what is in our minds to begin with, not just what makes it out of our mouths :(

The trick is to spot the frauds without them having to reveal themselves. Some of them might be good at hiding it at first, but there are always hints and signs.

"By their fruit you will recognize them."
(Matthew 7:16 NIV)

Fools mock at making amends for sin, but goodwill is found among the upright.
(Proverbs 14:19 NIV)

This is SO true. I have a 'friend' at church that presents herself as such a loving and giving person but she gossips, slanders, manipulates, and deceives to get what she wants. She's very gushy over everyone and says all the right God-words and wants to help people who seem unable to help themselves. I think she sees the end as justifying the means. In the meantime, she's like a steamroller

.

I have found this out by working with her closely for a few years. She's so good at manipulation that she has a lot of people fooled. I think she has even fooled herself.

She talks a lot about what God is doing but I think this is a technique she is using to get people to help with what SHE'S doing. I would be more willing to believe that it really was God moving if she wasn't so gossipy and slanderous about other people and was willing to listen to other people's ideas.

Nice part of living in a small town - there are no secrets.
Worse part of living in a small town - no can keep a secret!

But what you say is true, "bitter" waters can not gush from a fresh water spring.......
