I see two aspects there, vision and keeping the law. Does one not need the ability to see clearly in order to keep the law properly, or even see the need of it to have a desire to keep it? Do you think vision means only some kind of apparition, a dream maybe, or something? Just trying to understand what you mean, or what you think the Scripture means, in that mention of vision.
i believe the correct translation is to keep instruction and not keep the law.
I don't believe vision means dream, and I believe vision in this verse and elsewhere refers to visions that come from God.
Acts 2:17 - And it shall be, in the last days saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and, your young men, visions shall see and, your elders, in dreams shall dream, - (rotherham)

i can tell you what my visions from God are like, It's like you're imagining it, except it's stronger, sometimes much much stronger, except that the imagination comes from God and not yourself. Also, the stronger the vision is, the more it feels like a vision and not your own imagination. I"ve had visions so strong they would knock me out of my socks so to speak and on the other extreme i've had visions from God that were very weak so that i wasn't sure if it was a vision or just my own imagination.
So I think visions in proverbs refers to these type of visions

i got visions from God for 6 years, and at first the pentecostal church I went to allowed it, well i was able to testify to maybe 3 or 4 before they prohibited me from even speaking to anyone in our church about them. For 6 years I had to keep totally quiet about the wonderful visions God was giving me. It was very hard, now that I don't go to church, i don't have them as often or as strongly. I'm in a hard place now with no church to go to.
Never assume you know peoples hearts and how the will reply my friend.
As for your question Angel I sensed you were speaking of vision as in receiving a vision from God not vision like how a person has vision and strives for the goal they see in which case the scripture you posted does not fit.
I have received many visions many of which I do not speak of often especially in public here in cc as I am weary of being hounded and people thinking I believe myself to be a prophet. but I can assure you that visions and prophetic dreams are something God is very generous with me
my experience is just the opposite.. My experience from christians or anyone if I say anything about the visions and dreams God gives me is 'shut up, get lost, and don't keep in touch." You're the first person I've run into who has had many visions and dreams. Perhaps you read my blue boomer submarine dream. that's where it all started for me some 6 years ago. visions and dreams from god brought by a messenger to the people at the instigation of the Holy Spirit will bring correction and instruction from God as God speaks in and through the messenger. But some dreams and visions are just for the individual. In my case the church has always said to me "shut up, get lost, and don't keep in touch"

I see, well it is rare to find people who experience such things especially legit ones you can go on youtube to find them and you will find them in abundance but many are fake I honestly doubt there are many legit people on there lol.
i can tell you my experiences via pm perhaps but I have to warn you the things I have seen experienced and encountered are pretty bizarre

God speaks in visions but He also tells us to test all spirits and see if they are truly from God.

Cant say I've had any bizarre dreams lately but I do believe some consider me bizarre at times rightly so as I as well
You do not believe vision means dreams and yet the Scripture you gave includes dreams... I have had visions, and dreams of foretelling, and experienced other types of seeing, sometimes really rather physical, like every hair of my body standing on end type of feeling while being "weirded out" at the same time (that happened once when I walked past the car of an unknown pervert, I will spare you the details of how I discovered he was a pervert, but it was a warning for sure), or even a really strong impression that I am able to interpret as a very specific and articulate message though no words were received... and yes, the Torah or Tanakh means instruction, but the law is included in those instructions. Do you not think dreams come from God? I awoke from a dream once, sobbing in joy, I was not even a believer at the time, but my dream had ended with the words "Praise God" (I saw them). Sometimes things have happened and I spontaneously went into an altered state, like I was being pushed out of my normal state of consciousness, to become an observer, a receiver; sometimes I cannot even figure it out at the time, hindsight is helpful. Or I feel energy moving, one night before a large earthquake here I had energy pouring into my solar plexus, it really made me wonder what faculties animals have that allow them to know things we do not, things related to geophysics, magnetics of the earth and such. Other times my visions have been completely visual, like seeing an apparition, or auricular, but that (hearing) has been much more rare. I used to do things, pursue a spirituality that might help me develop these natural inclinations, but they took me into a realm I do not believe God desired for me to be in, for He called me out of it... literally. So one needs to be very careful what you pursue, and what your motivation is. It is too bad you are no longer in a church, and that your former church forced you to keep quiet. Have you heard of Hildegard von Bingen? She became quite ill when she kept her visions to herself, and the body of work she produced after being given permission to express them is amazing. I meant to say that too, what you said opening your post, Blain, about rarely speaking about these things. Most of the time it just doesn't seem appropriate, or it is completely unnecessary. I also don't want to draw undue attention to that part of my past, for it really is in my past, as far as I can tell. I hardly pay any attention to my dreams any more, whereas for years I kept journals off and on, over the course of decades, and I am not practicing other things now that I did then. People who don't believe in any of that just scoff at it anyways, a lot of the time, or some might have some fascination with it that does not come across as Godly. You will see that sometimes, people wanting to explore these sorts of things when they are running away from God. I would not want to encourage that.
Last night I dreamt that Ellen Degeneres died, but now I'm thinking maybe it was somehow Prince and not Ellen? I don't watch Ellen and I'm not a fan either.

i had a vision of white lilies falling on the face of a very black girl in church once or twice, it was very beautiful. the meaning was, in my opinion, merely to show me the spiritual beauty of that lady.
On the other hand, I had a 2 vision series in church that had an important message for the congregation, and God pushed me to testify of it, and God spoke in me when i did. the meaning of those two visions was that our righteousness isn't good enough. it is yahweh our righteousness that makes us pure.

thanks for confirming that Rotherham was correct, i just assumed he was because most always he is.
My experience is that dreams from God vary in intensity. the really strong dreams from God leave no doubt to the recipient that the dream is from God, Less strong dreams from God leave more room for doubt as to whether it's from God or not.Magenta said:

with me it's because of the things God does in me that cause people to avoid me, things that seem quite normal to me but bizarre to them. I have a french and German tongue language that slips into reconizeable German and French when I'm praising God an d God gives me things to say in those languages. that causes people to reject me, most people anyway.
Uhm I sa it because I have a reason and because I know many peoples hearts on here. Ive been called names for bringing words of knowlege and prophetic words to people. So sience then I am done with giving people help openly. Which is why I always say..if ya want help..wanna know something..blabla pm me
Even if the majority of people here are against such things your comment was he would not get a good comment here and he did indeed receive very good comments which I knew he would because while I know many here are very much against such things I do not claim to know everyones hearts and I was sure that even if I was the only one who would give him what he asked for he would receive what he asked for regardless of the fact you said he wouldn't.
believe me I know all to well the attacks I have been called the worst of things for sharing what God revealed to me even when I was asking for help understanding what was being revealed to me I have been under intense friendly fire attacks brutal and called the worst of things from it but i still would never say that no one would give good answers.
Not to mention sometimes the good comments are not what we wanted to hear
