It's been ages since I've read it but I got such a kick out of this book because it pretty much described my entire childhood growing up in the church. (One of my favorites was "The Casserole of Hope", dutifully brought to potlucks for every tragic event in the church.)


If we gathered up all the things singles get told over and over again (most amusing being the things we've already figured out for ourselves -- but people act like we're not smart enough to do so,) I'm sure we could write a "Stuff Christians Like -- The Single's Edition."

Shoot.

It could probably be turned into an entire series.

I made a thread but it just ended up with stuff all humans like. (according to Lynx) like...cheese.

So you can do other things, enjoy time to yourself, and have friends, and not need to worry about things so much or making sure you get things perfect or 'be' perfect. You can work on yourself. And also, you're relationship with Jesus is more one on one than a group effort.

It is really nice to be one-on-one with Jesus and to be able to grow in the Lord at your own pace rather than automatically have to be the 'grown up' with a lot of responsibilties etc.

Oh, OK. Yeah, I know all of that stuff can still be true. I don't, however, personally believe that this is what Paul's original point was.
