An interesting perspective. I think that the answer is this. The Scriptures and Jesus are not mutually exclusive. They are inextricably intertwined, so that we really don't know where one ends and the other begins. John tells us "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. ... The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:1-3, 14)

When we submit to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, I believe, His Spirit infuses us with a great desire to know him more intimately. This we do through study of the Scriptures. And the more we read about Him, the better we know Him, and the more we yearn to serve Him. Thus, Jesus draws us to the Scriptures, and the Scriptures draw us to Jesus.

I hope this doesn't stir up too much controversy.

I think we need to develop a personal relationship with the Lord.
