One thing that concerns me is the concentrations of outbreaks. They are around every one of our ports of entry for the everyday need of us.
This virus is demonstrating the weakness of the US's supply chain. If you walk through most grocery stores, you will find many of the items that you need in short supply. We are approaching the 15th day of the shutdown. If we start reopening parts of the country today, it will take at least two weeks to restore the supply chain to the levels of February 15. If we remain in shutdown until Easter, it will be well into the summer before the supply chain is restored. If we don't relax things around Easter, we may not recover.
No amount of money put in consumer's hands will allow them to purchase what isn't there.

I understand what you are saying, but we need to build a recovery program that will minimize the transmission of the virus and maximize the restart of our workforce. We can't starve 300 million people by doing nothing.
How do you suggest that we begin our recovery? Remember that money can't buy what isn't there.

Which supply chains have been affected?
The short supply is due to demand exceeding supply due to panic... it does not mean all production has stopped.

This is not unlike war time where the economy shifts to support the war effort and then shifts back to produce the goods that are needed.
The places of production are still there.
One suggestion is to let those exposed and recovered to go back to work.. which would require every citizen be tested.
I think the numbers for the coming week will tell the government how quickly they can proceed.
I agree, And if you're afraid , no problem , you can stay home .. Kicking the can down the road hasn't ever worked ..
How about those who are in areas where there are no infections? We had one infected traveler through our county three weeks ago. He has recovered and returned home. All of his contacts have been self isolated, and none have positive tests. When should our county be able to return to work?

Our food supply is dwindling. Our dry goods (like paper product supply) are shrinking. These are decreasing because the enter through ports that are shut down because of the virus.
And under normal circumstances we'd have honest green card seasonal agricultural workers who come work then go home and live like kings off the exchange rate difference ..
Shutting the borders down to seasonal green card agricultural workers instead of letting unvetted numbers in to draw off government programs ..
I knew what you were talking about -- I was trying to be partially serious - with a little bit of humor thrown in - regarding the general state of things these days...

It will end .. we just do not know how badly.
