I am glad this sermon spoke to your heart. Many times that God speaks to me when I just needed it, He really knows how to reach you at the right times. I think a lot of people have difficulties with taming the tounge, it is so easy to lash out with words having the wrong attitude within one's self.
In this world we are influenced with different ways of responding to others, most of the time the way one responds to someone else, especially when it is done with bad behaviour, it is a sort of surivival reflex done by the one doing this. Their way of coping through what they took in as an offense or hurtful words, and they may feel better at the moment they react this way, though it is just temporary.
I too still need to get better with this, some days ago I got reminded of this bible verse:
Proverbs 29:11
"A fool gives full vent to his anger,
but a wise man holds it in check."
In this world we are taught about how good it is to vent out our feelings, especially when one also feels angry. I have done this a lot myself as I need talking out about my feelings, but often when I vent out what upsets me and which makes me angry, it makes me even more angry. As I will keep on repeating it in my mind and let it make me more mad and upset, so then I will end up sinning in my words as well as behaviour. Something which will again make me feel worse than before I did any of this venting. It is good talking about feelings, though better not talk a lot if you start getting into a rage.
We that belong to God have this great advantage of learning how to control ourselves through His strenght, when we ask Him for help as well as spend more time and focus on Him then this will become a very natural part in us, wanting to get better at thinking before we speak, as well as controlling our feelings. The more of His love we get in our lives, the more we will learn looking through His eyes and heart.
