I'm not much for formulas and outlines but I came across this diagram that was extracted from the book of James and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Steps by which we grow....
1) FAITH - Faith in who we believe, learning to lose our trust in the world and security in money. After all We don't believe that Jesus lied.
2) FRUIT - The things your Faith causes you to do. The culmination of works of service and love that having faith inspires within you. You deeds are not done to be seen but to show the love you know.
3) SACRIFICE - The things your faith weighs and measures and finds wanting, like things and stuff in your life that is debris & unnecessary, all falls away. You realize the responsibility and accountability to God you have for everything you own. The materialism that once moved us seems beyond meaningless.
4) EGO, SELF - This is where the essence of what you are is cast away for sake of Christ. All the degrees, accolades, titles, appearances of success is rendered meaningless for glory of God. You grow to find invulnerability in your humility.
5) LIFE - This is where your very breath is tied to the work that God has for you, to whatever end should find you. Having realized that anything done aside from God is meaningless, your life is a representation of fully acknowledging the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Phrases like, "I deserve" or "I need" are no longer in your vocabulary, only "We", "Us", "Our" and "God's will" matter.
