We've been freed from Law, died to its bonds, so that we may serve in the Spirit :)

The law has not been done away with! Yet some laws have been fulfilled. As Christ died on the cross, the curtain separating the Holy of Holies was torn from the top down, signalling that sin is no longer a barrier to God. Later we see the dietary laws, circumcision and even the days prescribed by Moses had ceased to be relevant in the new age of grace.

The laws which still lead to holiness are still intact. We still must love God first and foremost and to love our neighbors as ourselves. We still must strive to be holy and obey the moral laws that God judges the world by.

My little children, these things write I to you, that you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

Well said, danchanced :) Sin was beat, death was beat, for one and all, not just you, not just me, but EVERYBODY whosoever will, by His grace, through your faith given by Him, believe in Him. :)

Don't FALL from grace, stay in Him, obey Him, therefore, be with Him, have Him, Him in you, you in Him, abiding, living, doing, cutting, pruning, showing, growing YOU , and, YOU will be freed :)

But the commandments are too hard to keep….Really?

If you believe that we can't keep these commandments then I ask the question; Does YHWH (God) lie because He said…

Deut 30:11 For this commandment which I command you this day, IT IS NOT TOO HARD FOR YOU, neither is it far off. 12 It is not in heaven that you should say: Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it? 13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say: Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it? 14 But the word is very near unto you, in your mouth, and in your heart, that you may do it. 15 See, I have set before you this day life and good, and death and evil, 16 in that I command you this day to love YHWH Elohim (the LORD your God), to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, and His statutes, and His ordinances; then shall you live and multiply, and YHWH your Elohim shall bless you in the land where you go in to possess it.

If we are able to perfectly keep God's commands, why did He send His Son?

As for the verses in Deuteronomy, do you not see the Gospel there?

The apostle Paul did...

Rom 10:1-13
Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on law shall live by that righteousness. But the righteousness based on faith speaks as follows: “DO NOT SAY IN YOUR HEART, ‘WHO WILL ASCEND INTO HEAVEN?’ (that is, to bring Christ down), or ‘WHO WILL DESCEND INTO THE ABYSS?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).”

But what does it say? “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

For the Scripture says, “WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for “WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.”

VERY well said, psychomommy :) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I don't understand your last statement, first you say the law stands then your saying its fulfilled by Christ. which one is it?
And I did not say the law is nomore, read my last comment again.

Ok. The Law has been fulfilled by Christ because Christ's sacrifice is what the animal sacrifices represented. Hence, as Christ has now died in the place of our sins, He fulfilled the sacrificial aspect of the Law. The Law is now COMPLETE. We have our guidance, the Law (though that same Law is now written on our hearts) and our advocate who is Jesus Christ the Son (if we sin against the Law) now which makes God's Law complete. That does not do away with the Law, that establishes the Law as complete in Christ Jesus. Therefore, the laws written by God's own hand will always stand. It's only the sacrificial laws that were that "shadow" of things to come-- which clearly were Christ's death and resurrection-- Heaven's perfect spotless Lamb-- that are no longer to be practiced.

The dietary laws, circumcision and feast days are relevant, they are in scripture. Scripture tells us about them and explains their relevance. They were not required for salvation. There is a big difference. All of the words that God breathed to us are relevant. Todays church is cheating itself out of a big step in knowing God by teaching to ignore the teaching of these things.

You know, I'm not sure if you're saying this, but it seems to me that when people say the Bible proves we can't keep the law that we no longer are supposed to even try. Now surely that can't be true. If we don't even try not to lie, steal, commit adultery, etc., where in the world is that going to get us? Clearly that's not what God means by our no longer being under the law because that wouldn't make any sense!

Jesus always told those He forgave their sins to "go and sin no more." What in the world do we think that means? Obviously, since the Law is our schoolmaster and tells us what sin is, He is telling us to keep the Law! In other words, follow the Law which tells us not to sin! So obviously God DOES expect us to not sin. Yes yes yes, we clearly needed and need an advocate in Christ because we're so freaking imperfect. God has not yet completed His good work in us, but through Christ Jesus He will. But again, that means that we must keep the law and strive through Christ to live our lives free of sin.

The dietary laws, circumsion, the feasts and sabbath (of all kinds) are relevant only to those who wish to study them. We are under grace and not law. If you obey any part of the mosaic law, then you must keep all of it and you have cut yourself off from the grace of Christ.

2 Behold I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you.3 And I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is under obligation to keep the whole Law.4 You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.5 For we through the Spirit, by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness.6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love. Gal. 5:2-6

Sorry but your theories are not in tune with the new testament.

Exactly. I do not understand those who embrace Christ and the law, I don't see what they are trying to do, as the outcome might mean they are cut off from Christ.

Circumcision was, indeed, the human's effort to place himself under the obligation of the Old Covenant, much in the same way as signing our name to a contract places us under obligation to that contract. So, if you are going to get circumcised for religious purposes, understand, you are agreeing with God, the second party of that contract, that you will do what has been outlined in that contract. Hence, the reason why Paul said you place yourself under the Old Covenant if you are circumcised for the purpose of making a covenant with God.

Galatians 2

17"But if, in seeking to be justified in Christ, we Jews find ourselves also among the sinners, doesn’t that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not! 18If I rebuild what I destroyed, then I really would be a lawbreaker. 19"For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. 20I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!"

Galatians 3
Faith or Works of the Law
1You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. 2I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? 3Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?[8] 4Have you experienced[9] so much in vain—if it really was in vain? 5So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? 6So also Abraham "believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness."[10] 7Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. 8Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you."[11] 9So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. 10For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law."[12] 11Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because "the righteous will live by faith."[13] 12The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, "The person who does these things will live by them."[14] 13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole."[15] 14He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

What do you think these Galations were doing? Guess. They were sacrificing animals for their sins again. This wasn't about them keeping the Law by not sinning. Again, this was about them sacrificing animals. Christ had fulfilled that. Yeah.

Sorry but your theories are not in tune with the new testament.

Well I'm making the exact same statement about you. Sorry, your theories are not in tune with the new testament. The only thing about keeping the mosaic law that would cut me off from Christ is if I didn't recognize Christ as the fulfillment of the promise, the actual Perfect Lamb that died for our sins, which yes, involve breaking the commandments. That's what sin is. That will never change. Sin will never ever be anything BUT sin. The commandments tell us what sin is. So why would the Law EVER be set aside? You clearly do not understand the New Testament, so you obviously will not understand what I am saying.

Again, the only aspect of trying to be saved by keeping the law that cuts us off is not recognizing Christ as the fulfillment of the Law. Those that never recognize Christ will not be saved by the law, in fact, the law itself will condemn them because the wages of sin is death as determined by the Law, and without Christ, there is no advocate to save them.

anyway its the teaching that paul said about law and spirit , that are the points.

Galatians 5
Walk by the Spirit

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

2Behold I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you.3 And I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is under obligation to keep the whole Law.

4 You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

5For we through the Spirit, by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness.6For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.

7You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth?8 This persuasion did not come from Him who calls you. 9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough.10 I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will adopt no other view; but the one who is disturbing you will bear his judgment, whoever he is.11But I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been abolished.12 I wish that those who are troubling you would even mutilate themselves.

When we really know that our Father loves us we will love Him back and as you said that gives us all we need. There are other things which are good that God may choose to give us but not having them will not break our heart.

PLEASE DOCUMENT THAT THE GALATIAN HERESY PAUL CONFRONTED WAS THAT THE GALATIANS WERE SACRIFICING ANIMALS.
