All good things to learn from, julieannie.

My last relationship didn't work because he wasn't a christian. At first I wanted it to work so bad because I wanted a boyfriend but I realized after a while the struggle in my heart was God trying to tell me something. Me and him just had completely different views on things! The only other one before that was kinda an odd case, he randomly lost interest in me. I never saw him (this was back in high school), or talked to him, it was like he dissapeared. So sadly I had to break it off over the phone. But my friend a couple years later dated the same guy and he did the same thing, it was weired. We both think it had to do with his mom. She was very over protective and we think she didn't like him dating older girls!

This speaks, bluebird, of my thread where I ask guys how many minutes into a chance encounter/ first meeting at a grocery store line, or, library , it takes them to mention something God-related or just asking her if she believes in God. 2 minutes, 5, 10, right at end of meeting or never are the
5 choices . You can rest happy, IF you like the guy to lead in that department and telo you they are a believer, saying it in some 'God' mention.

So....

Moral of the story: meet your match on c.c. :D.

This feels like a healing thread :P. My first relationship, I have tried assigning blame. It doesn't work, because if you are truly in love, little things shouldn't matter- you should be able to get past them and work on the issues, right? Well, here's what happened: he called me around one AM one night, and said he needed to vent. He rarely did so, so it was a big moment for him. I was in pain because he was, and I became desperate to make him feel better- I said the wrong thing, and tried to make it better right away- then tried to fix it a week later. We talked through it, I apologized and almost broke down crying. And then a few weeks later, he sat me down and said we'd be better off as friends, after a year and four months going out. He lied about the reason, maybe to spare my feelings, and said the "love faded"- when asked later if it was about that night at one AM, he said that this was a huge part of it. Apparently there were also little things that he has never told me, but eh- how can I know what he's thinking if he doesn't say it? Same with me sometimes- I once took a month to tell him that his jokes about depression were too much, and that I was offended by them as someone who wants to be a counselor or therapist.

So communication was a big issue. Then I realized little reasons why it wouldn't have worked- the biggest being that I was more into my faith than he was and felt uncomfortable talking about it to him. Gosh, was so blinded that I didn't realize what was going on. He also hated all of my favorite music, and I kinda disliked most of his as well... but hey, it was the best year+ of my life, in that God led him to me when I was emotionally broken- my father had just died of cancer, and I didn't know what to do or who to turn to. God has shown me now the type of person that I need, and I shall be especially picky, wait for Him to let the right man step in!

Yes, this too I talk about in other threads, and, being equally yoked, as written in scripture can take on mes meaning now can't it. Not saying it can't work, but two people liking each other but not together on beliefs , different doctrine, different ways of worshipping (liberal vs conservative, like Pentecostal holy roller faith of one vs. Methodist/Lutheran stringent worship. just saying, not judging.
Also, one strong in faith and one weak , amoral vs moral christian faith, can hurt relationship, as you say, BeEverGreen.
And, a baby christian with a longtime believer can either work really well with one leading the other, or, not work at all with too much gap and one gets bored of other not able to challenge them.enough spiritually. But, IF this latter is the casé, and, I really like person, I would try hard to understand bible more and try to upgrade my knowledge of bible stories and lessons of scripture. That can deepen your relationship too. The Lord leads :)

Honesty It seems like i tend too be honest and guys arent very honest. Like I been called overblunt and honestly its good too be like this but most guys arent and if they where no one would get hurt. Just be forward be honest don't drag someone with u and hurt them at end. That and diff beliefs like this one guy told me at end after we where already like looking at stuff for marriage and all we had plans and all he said he didnt beleive in marriage and when someone doesn't even believe in it for me means they never did its like why lie too your parner and tell them you wanna get married and have kids and blah blah when u really don't believe nonsense. Its like at the end its hurtful painufull but its better now to leave person then too get married or move in which i don't believe in and be miserable. It was a sign everything that happened for me to open my eyes and realize it wasn't gods well

Yes, guy needs to be upfront from the git, preschoolteachin' . I say this to bluefalcon, but, yes, the guy needs to quickly tell you his faith the very first time you meet IF not meet atyractive guy at church

lol.. When i saw the title of this thread, i thought *This has to be a thread from Julliana*..lol.. And then i saw GreenNnice..*face palm* :D :D

Tobe, long time no talk,.Yeah, and, though my age is 43, i am not with any long relationships. God bless you, Christ bro :)

So, Yeah, ladies, i guess that says, 'I got nothing (for you).'. :D. The Lord leads, I have had plenty of lady friends, gone dancing fri. , sat. Nights in college 4 years strsight, asking all the girls out. Twas fun, most said 'yes' when i asked. But, Yeah, OK, that is all i got :D God has kept me and I thank Him often ... :). Isaiah 40:31 . I say this not to boast , I just, hmm, if I am making these kind of threads, i think knowing the REAL 'Green' is important for you all, miladies. :). Always remember, sin , of any kind is gone in God's eyes (and mind) the moment you confess, and, being pure DOES not make you better than anyone else if you are. The Lord has GREAT plans for us all, for His glory , great or small things, for Him, and... for you too to be blessed :) And it all starts with believing in Him. Ende there too, right with John 3:16 . Only believe :-)

He was in love with a girl who was going through a divorce......
Now they are together. He just "tolerated" me until she became single. :(
that is why I have trust issues with guys.

Trust in God, gardenhopper , and, everything else will follow :)

Blessings to you brother!!! That was a blessing to read!!!

Your whole journey said in that paragraph , I am convinced, was a blessing to many, keep on lrsrning from Him, I suggest getting God placated in your life, going to christian bookstore and getting a book there that God has on your heart. A christian bookstore is such an awesome place to hear God. You just, Josh, still with me?, have to really listen :)

Annyyyywayyy... I think a few unusual reasons I can think of were....

-One girl joined the Peace Corp. She wanted to quit and stay for me, but I told her no. I lied and said I didn't love her, mainly because I didn't want to be the reason she didn't go through with her dreams. She got married afterword though, so I think it worked out okay for her!
-I can think of two girls I've dated who cheated, and I ended it afterword. One girl actually had a boyfriend before she met me, so I was the one she was "cheating" with, but I didn't know it! Needless to say, I didn't stick around after I found out.
-One girl had her best guy "friend" decide to tell her he loves her, about a couple weeks after I started dating her. She couldn't decide, because she didn't know me for very long yet, and she basically said "I've never had one good guy before, and now I have two." Anyway, I chose for her, since if she couldn't figure it out by then, she never would (I left).

Other than that, I guess a lot of times it was just normal reasons. You fight, you break up. The person turns out to be different than you expected. You realize they aren't the right one. Things like that. Opposites definitely attract, but they sure don't stay together! Another reason would be, I've had at least 4 ex's I can think of that wanted to marry me within a couple of months. I definitely want to get married one day and have a family, but I don't want to get divorced, and I'm not about to marry someone within a couple months of knowing them. I think a year is a good minimum, or at LEAST 6 months, and that would have to be extreme circumstances. I do know that those 4 girls all got married almost right after me. I felt like the real life version of that guy in the movie "Good Luck Chuck." Haha

---dabearz, huh, not looked at your profile, but u wouldn't happen to b from Chicago, and, that was nice of you to let that girl go going off to peace corp. Noble. Sacrifice. yes, you decided, i just say, you've had plenty girl relationships, awesome, just keep.making God the center of them :)
God bless you, Christ bro.

My first relationship was more like infatuation, we only liked each other for three months, and then he got jealous that I was spending more time with one of my cousins who was go
ing through a breakup of his own. The guy didn't know that we were just cousins, and my cousin kissed my cheek to thank me for my help. He blew up at me, and told me he never wanted to see me again, never wanted to even hear my name again, and if I dropped dead, he'd laugh. That hurt me terribly, I didn't get over it until seven months later.
Second relationship hurt me so badly, that some guy in my future is going to have a hard time getting that close to me.
I loved him, I was honest with him, I would've died for him. I wanted every happiness for him. And I thought he felt the same way. We were going to be married as soon as I turned eighteen. Everyone thought he was a good guy.
But he was dishonest, disrespectful, disloyal, and irresponsible.
Instead of helping me grow, he tore me down. I'd cry myself to sleep every night, and I didn't know it at the time, but it was because I didn't have God with me anymore.
It took the guy blaming everything (the lies, the disrespect, etc.) on me, to get people to realize that he wasn't who ANYONE thought he was. He wasn't who I needed him to be. My parents broke us up. We're friends now, but it's still awkward between us.
When my mom told me that she was sorry this had to happen to me, she was sorry that I had to have another tormenting heartbreak. I told her I wasn't upset about breaking up with the guy. I was upset because I "broke up" wit God. Even if it hurt terribly that the guy wasn't who I thought he was.
I have trust issues with everyone now.
Awww, blueseraphin, you don't want a guy jealous like that, God protected you.
Then 2nd guy , he was four things you do not want in a guy you live with FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! Picture me just doing those four words smiling at you, k ? :).

I am being serious about that , but certainly not yelling ar ya, milady. But forevermore, even on Earth, is a looong time. You want God's one , in His time, and, i see that you learned from that 2nd relationship too, i pray anyway, you learned what a dishonest, disrespectful, unloyal, and , not responsible guy looks like and that relationship, through the pain of crying yourself to sleep you realized you let go of God. You got Him back , Him, you, :) yeaaaa ! Awesome . Fandapalopolis . Sorry , my green brains got a word in :D

My best advice to you, blue....: never let go of God because He will never let go.of you.

God is the only one who will never let you down into state you cannot arise a blessed champion that WILL glorify Him :). And you too, milady, will get the aftereffects for that rising, blessings beyond mention :)

Oh my goodness, this is kind of a scary subject for me! :P
The first one wasn't so bad, I was in college and my bf wasn't ok with trying to maintain the relationship as a long distance thing when I had to go home for summer break.
The second one I broke it off after he showed signs of being physically abusive and left a deep bruise on my wrist...That didn't take too much thought! :S
The last one ended up breaking things off when I was about to, after failing to drive a wedge between me and my family, and he straight up yelled at my mother that she "really screwed (me) up" when he found out I didn't agree with his radical views on birth control.
This time around I'm really praying it doesn't come down to another crazy break up story, but that if it does end for whatever reason it's civil and doesn't offend anyone, haha :)

2nd - Awww. .
______________
1st - Yes, understandable, my friend had a saying for this he told me one time when we were talking about girls at college that had boyfriends in other states, like California, when we were in Washington, and, let me tell you, there were a ton of girls from California going to our school . He called those guys that were away from those girls 'geographically unacceptable.' LOL. Hadn't thought of that in a long time, bassistgirl :)

Tough to go through, but I am sure that situation made you stronger. I like the "Mandisa' song, 'Stronger,' for this . :) Anger management was where he was needed headed, I think, you don't yell at your girl's mom and you don't make a big deal over beliefs, especially talking to parents that they 'screwed up.' Sad. Just be thankful (to God) you didn't marry him :)
________
Pray without ceasing, that is what Jesus would tell you to do. Me too :D

Yeah, I'm what my sister calls a FROG... Fully Relying On God. After that situation, I'm pretty much glued to the
fact that God's going to be the only reliable man in my life... If God sees fit to give me another man... Lord, bless him with patience and understanding... God knows I'm gonna need a little more than just time and persuasion to get me to put my heart out there again.
So, until the guy who's going to be "just right" for me (I can only hope and pray that I'll be "just right" for him too), God's gonna be my man ;)

My first relationship ended because after a year and a half of seeking the Lord it just dawned on me one summer in Mexico that I deserved better. I was 100% sure of why until I found out from his brother that shortly after I called it off he left church, started gang banging, selling drugs, and soliciting prostitutes off craigslist. He was not who he appeared to be, and by the grace of God I listened to his direction even when I wasnt sure why.
I married my 2nd bf. We dated for 5 years before we got married. We struggled with sexual sin for a while but found freedom for the yr before we got married. I was unaware of the depth of some of his issues. I wanted to hel him and he made lots of promises he failed to keep post marriage. So I ended up working my tail off to support us both. I cooked, cleaned, and planned everything. We did not communicate well and while I was working on my issues my husband became very boundary resistant. First he was verbally abusive and manipulative. Then he became physically abusive. He left church because he didnt want to deal with issues he had with the pastors. He vowed never to return and he got more and more unstable over the next few months. He was hospitalized for 5 months and hassince refused to talk to me since I refused to allow him to ban me from speaking to my pastors.
So what issues led to the demise... I could say a lot, but for me it's not knowing what I deserve and fully understanding the relationship.

Fandapopolis, BlueSeraphin, yes, just go with God, someone said on here not too long ago that you run with God and do good things like going to school and learning much as you can. high school time is PRECIOUS free education time, use it well :) And, go to church ALL THE TIME is my advice too, get soaked up in God's blessings for you there, get into an accountability bible study group too with WOMEN , if you can weekdays.

Don't worry about guys, they will come, and, just dance with God and you will see His leading greatly, I am certain, in your life. :)

God bless you, milady :)

God will never let you go, it is good, ,you held God's hand that first relationship and He held on, no doubt, as you knew not why you followed Him, even as Satan was really trying to pull, Jord. Great blessing and intimacy with God, listening to that still small voice that is God in you, rather, His Holy Spirit freely given you who is part of God too, given us as our 'helper' when Jesus was baptized :)

And also the 2nd relationship of yours, well, that one, yes, you married, and that is normal, we all get infatuated with human nature things that are later realized not good for us. I know I have :(
God was there and just took time to see His way. For me. For you. He is ALWAYS there for everybody, our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit , who IS God inside you. Beautiful to know, isn't it. He is speaking through me right now, I pray, and, always pray that when speaking on c.c. :) Sometimes that red guy gets in the way of my 'speak,' so to speak, but by the power of God, and, in me there is a little greeen guy too :D , we ALWAYS get that Satan right on out of there :)

Nothing overcame you that is not common temptation to man, Jord, scripture is that somewhere, but my green brains not giving me the answer at the moment :D . We all get 'overcame' in our lives, but we get came back, so to speak, by realizing the blood of Jesus covers ALL our overcameness. :) IF that makes any sense and we were saved for all eternity despite all our shortcomings Christ STILL died for us, while we were yet sinners (thx, Jilly, I read what you said not too long ago) :)

God is always there for us , yes, yes, yes, make Him the center of your life and have with Him constant relationship. He YEARNS for that with us, that is WHY He created us. God was lonely :( .

So, YOU are so wanted by Him as someone to be good company , Jord :)

I was spending some time with my brother and struck up a great connection with one of his friends, we just couldn't stop talking. We opened up to each other (or so I thought) and I told him my beliefs and he told me he was a Christian too! We spent as much time together as possible and talked on the phone every day. But soon it was clear that he was not a Christian and if we were just chilling, he would get annoyed if I even read my Bible. If my attention was not on him 100%, if I made time to see some friends rather than see him he would put me down - say I was fat, didn't dress prettily enough etc all the usual rubbish as well as threaten to kill himself if I left him and all those other mind games! I lost a lot of confidence in the time that I knew him but God finally made me see sense, and even though I was constantly praying for this guy in the hope he would find JC, that this was not the spiritual partner that God had in mind for me. But I'm content with being single right now, I have the love of God, the love of my family and friends and whatever happens in the future I know God's got my back!

JoeyBe4Jesus - yes, guys like that are not who God wants for you. God has much better (the best :) ) in store for those that remain faithful and wait on Him, Isaiah 40:31.

Often, like raising a horse, it takes great responsibility, and, God wants to see how responsible we handle the little things in life before He gives us something big , like a boyfriend, who is the best for you :)

And, yes, I use that horse example because you said you like horses. Cool . :) And, I say that about responsibility with horses because I cannot think of a better way to learn responsibleness ( faithfulness?) to something important in your life than getting up mornings to feed your horses and care for them and all other stuff, 7 days a week, besides maybe a comparison would be helping your mom a lot since you are around 10 years older and, therefore, called on to help your baby brother or sister grow up, learning motherhood at a very early age :)

Anyway, I hope I don't derail my own thread, LOL, but , yes, God has your back, JB4J, and, He has your front and side and all over, outside, and.... inside :) He is in you, as I told Jordache.

God bless you, milady. Never give up your guard of keeping God things sacred and God will always be with you, watching you--helping you, protecting you, keeping His plans for you going forward in an amazing way, the best :)

hi friends...
iam from india and here arranged marriages are the trend....my marriage got fixed last year...we saw each other at my home ..both liked each other ...said yes...everything was like a fairy tale...but as i started talking with him on phone and started doubting my future with him...but i still loved him...also at a point of time there ws a friction between our families as the grooms side demanded for more dowry...then my family dint like him,,,but for my sake(because i liked him and in my love blinded eyes he was not wrong ..it was his relative who was money minded)...all the plans were going on...but i was going through a emotional roller caster...he made my expetations rise and then it went to zero and atlast negative....but still i dint tell no for marriage...just 2 days b4 marriage the marriage we had a counselling in church after which he messaged me not to have any expectations wen i go to his home..when i told him i saw the love in his eyes and it was enough for me....he hurt me with this reply..wat u see in my eyes is not true love...its just for the sake of other ppl....i cried within my heart...i dint confide it to anyone....i went through the bible verse love is patient and so on and consoled myself....next morning wen i took my mobile..he had messaged...i dont like this marriage pls convey it to ur father...i pleaded him to talk with me...but no he was stubborn...i told my parents and my dad decided to call it off...but deep down i was crying.....i askedgod to give me reasons to hate him....and when my relatives enquired about him...i was told tat he was a drunkard...he was already in some relationship....and he had even madearrangements for a gang og rowdies to beat my father in case we beat him...i was like how cheap was his thinking...my dad would never even think of doing such a thing.....and i can witness to u tat god saved me from falling into a deadly pit....if god hasnt planned a marriage he would stop it even the day before.......
My ideal couple is the one in bible...isaac an drebecca..they dint ceach other..they hadnt talked even....but they obeyed God and their life is a witness to us...their life wasnt lacking in any love...i pray to God to show the Isaac in my life at right time and give me the maturity to not fall for physical attration but simply obey God and say yes if only its God's willl....because a man can fully act and show only his goodnes....we may not know his 360 degrees but God always knows every single thing about a person..Praise God

Let's just be honest, make someone understand why maybe their last relationship didn't work.

But, miladies ( sure, your my Christ sis', but, if you don't mind, I like 'miladies) , and, Christ bros., I just hope you can

kill us all softly :D

So Yeah what did YOU say to them that broke up the relationship (kindly word it, some of us got green feelings, you know :D ) .

Or, sigh, maybe he/she said something to you that made your little, sooo beautiful heart crumble like bleu cheese rubbed into a salad, or, something like that :D

I have to tell you, I sure got a laugh out of this original post! I wouldn't really call it a 'relationship,' but the main thing that was a deal breaker for the making of a relationship with a guy last year was the fact that he was not genuine. He said he understood where I was coming from on health issues and was like-minded. The more I got to know him, the more I found out he told me these things just to be my friend and say he had a 'relationship.' If you cannot be honest with someone from the get-go, it's not going to benefit in the long run.

Thank you GreenNnice! Couldn't agree with you more, God will know when I'm ready! Baby steps first! God bless friend

where a guy is far far too full on, within a week he is kissing you at the back of your neck and touching u in wrong places...which some people like me find disturbing and just being very dirty minded :/

where a guy is far far too full on, within a week he is kissing you at the back of your neck and touching u in wrong places...which some people like me find disturbing and just being very dirty minded :/

Follow Him, nic, set your mind more and more on His active leading of your life, the Lord leads, and, for He in you, is not our bodies supposed to be a temple of the Holy Spirit . :)

.tThinking more and more of things heavenly and filling your life , your time with things of Him, like bible studying, praying, cutting out things that cause you to sin (dropkicK your tv if it's causing you grief of serving Him). Not easy, we all have heavy burdens and things earthly that tempt and 'suade us to suffering , for the Enemy is real and in his world living we will have troubles . But touch your life to God, for your heart, realize His promises are true, milady, and, never forget that greater is He who is in you than he (Satan) who is in the world . :)
Read Hebrews for good Spirited Scripture and understanding of how great is our God. Read Acts for understanding His Spirit unto us given, our Helper, our Comforter, our Helper, our friend, too, Acts 1:8 and 2:38 , meditate on these verses. Then also read 1 Cor. 1 & 2 so the power of the Holy Spirit can be shown of how He teaches us/ reveals unto us all Truth and great interpretation of Scripture.
Blessings, you go now, girl, leaning on Him, not your own understanding and, in His time, and, great timing, He will show you a great guy to get to know, who you will see, as He leads you, is of Him . :)

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

John 15:15 is very telling of Jesus , who was conceived of Holy Spirit seed. Jesus is with those who receive Him , as said before. He will guide and protect you as you go with Him walking , in Him leading, with you walking and abiding and relationshipping with Him..

" New American Standard Bible (©1995) "No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you."

Acts 1:8 " but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.".
