What are we repining of?
“Her gates have sunk in the ground; He has destroyed and broken her bars. Her kings and her rulers are among the nations. The Law is no more; also her prophets also find no vision from Jehovah.” (Lamentations 2.9).
Why Jeremiah was grieving the expulsion of the leaders of Jerusalem? They were defiled, harm Jeremiah and vitiated Creator's law. In sooth, in Israel, Creator’s law there was been changed by invidious precepts of false gods several years ago, since Manasseh (2Chronicles 33).
And what about us? Many times we are muttering just for what we have looked for during months or years. For instance:
When the weather sets in to get hot, we pine for the rain; when, finally, the rain sets in, we grumble because it rains in a moment that is unsuitable for us;
We whimper for the sake of the corruption, but when someone doesn’t back us up in a blatant thing or don’t favor us over other people, we disparage, retort, utter scurrilous words against this person, etc. and the worst: we hold this against them;
We don’t do anything to ameliorate our family, city, country, brothers in Christ, but are standing by to blame, curse, when things go wrong;
We repine when we are fined for encroaching the law, but we also mutter when the absence of the law makes someone take over us or con us in regard to some right;
We complain when Jesus don’t talk to us, but when He come to us we drive Him out because He don’t came as He waited, as it took place with Naaman (2Kings 5.11,12), with all the Israelites that ostracized and crucified Jesus, exactly as Jesus prophesied in Matthew 5.41-46.
Besides, why do we wish that Jesus speaks to us, being that, most of the times, we aren’t with alacrity to abide by what He want for us? Many times we try to shush everyone that Jesus rise to speak in His name because we don’t want to be ushered in His will (as did Israel - Isaiah 30.9-11; Jeremias 5.31; 43.1-3; Amos 2.11,12). Instead, what we desire it is to bring Jesus around us. And if He don’t live up to us, we whine. Many get to the point of hold a grudge against Him.
So, take a stance! Until when will we limp between two opinions (2Kings 18.21)? Let’s commit ourselves utterly to Jesus, accept all His good, pleasurable and perfect will (Romans 12.2) that works inside us His salvation (Philippians 2.12,13) and have the magnificent day that Jesus prepared for us since the eternity.
