Those old companies went out of business but the government should of stepped in and kept them around for the less fortunate of society.

The telephone lines were removed, most of the power to operate them came from the telephone line. The coin mechanism was very minimal.

The age of cell towers took over.
i don’t understand how engineers couldn’t just reinvent the wheel and just update the hardware on the emergency phones on the freeways and the payphones, by giving them a card reader (or now a days, a chip reader or wireless tap)

Well, Pacific Bell was in charge over all that on the west coast and they ended up becoming AT&T but instead of updating what they had, they came up with a whole new system with personal cell phones and slowly phased out the freeway emergency lines and pay phones.

They definitely could and probably know exactly how to do it no problem. But that would take away profits from somewhere or somebody high up the food chain.

Yea that was probably a merge or else with AT&T. The corporate world swallows up smaller ones all the time. They become the new corporation.

I think they either merged or just changed their name completely. I think it was in the late 90’s when Nokia was the cell phone king.

I cannot get this to open. What's the name of it and I can look it up. :)
I don't think Lexi is going to respond, this thread was started in 2014, and Lexi is no longer a memeber, probably sonce 2014. You can tell because it says "guest" under their name. Or banned.
But I did manage to get the URL first the song she posted. Here you go...

One of my favourite songs with the passion of the Christ movie as footage. You have to sign in to watch. Age Restricted. God bless
I am 37 years old and I have all my devices basically on parent lock.
