Been looking at 1 Corinthians 15.
3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
Been thinking about the importance of the resurrection of Christ. Romans 10:9 says that believing in the resurrection of Christ is necessary.
I just feel like I haven't seen a lot of discussion on the importance of the resurrection of Christ.
I have seen a lot about the message of the cross and the blood of Christ, but the resurrection of Christ is so crucial.
1 Corinthians 15:14
14And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
It's so important that our faith is in vain without the resurrection.
Hello @Roughsoul1991, I've been looking into the topic of "forgiveness" (and have been doing so, on and off, for more than a year now). I'd never thought of the subject of forgiveness as being either complicated or controversial before I began to look into it, but my opinion has definitely changed since.
It's interesting (and disheartening/sad) to see how far the world's ideas about/purpose for forgiveness (which is, at best, self-centered) has encroached upon the Biblical teaching about forgiveness (which is always God-centered and principally concerned with the well-being of/reconciliation with the one who sinned against us, rather than with "self").
I was also disheartened to realize that I have fallen into the trap at times myself (of solo/silent, non-Biblical "forgiveness"), but thanks to this ongoing study, I hope that it will never happen again

p.s. - there is a second controversy that involves a misunderstanding of what is said about forgiveness in the "Lord's Prayer" (and in the two qualifying verses that follow it .. in Matthew 6), but I'll leave that for another post.

I have learned that you cannot make brownies without eggs.
I also like what Deut said about forgiveness. Jesus has been sooo merciful to me. I must extend that to others if I am to be His child.
Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but [rather] give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance [is] mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
I am doing a study of the book of Matthews that includes a study of every old testament verse Matthew relates his story of Christ to. I am learning that the old testament and the new testament are essentially about the same thing, and that is the forgiveness offered through Christ for the salvation of our souls.
Studying Sinai and The Exodus, learning about it's prophetic foreshadowing of the 2nd Coming of Jesus.

It's been said that trying to understand the New Testament without a working knowledge of the Old Testament is like trying to put the roof on a house without first building the house to support it.
For example, beginning with the very first verse of the New Testament, we read:
"The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham." (Matthew 1:1)
If one isn't familiar with or doesn't understand the Old Testament prophecies pertaining to Christ as "the son of David" and "the son" or seed "of Abraham", then one is inevitably not only going to either disregard or misunderstand this particular verse, but, even worse, inevitably misunderstand much of what is contained in the New Testament as a whole.

should be interesting what it says about the Roman Empire, as that was around the time of Christ. Of course there has been many empires prior and since.
