Hello everyone, this is my first post and I hope it is alright to start with a question. I am trying to confirm what stories are represented in this church window from the north of England. The theme is clearly stories of the sea after the old naval benefactor who paid for it. I would be very grateful for any help please!

Many thanks, Sim

The first picture seem to be a story that is in the Gospel where Jesus was sleeping in a boat and a storm came and the Apostles where scared that the boat would sink and woke Jesus up and asked Him if He cared that they where about to die.. Jesus got up and rebuked the storm and the storm stopped and the waves became calm..

The second picture seems to be a story that is also in the Gospel of when the apostles where in a boat out on the water and Jesus came to them walking on water.. Peter in the boat asked Jesus if He could come out of the boat and walk on the water to Jesus.. Jesus said yes and Peter got out of the boat and started to walk towards Jesus on the water,, But Peter started to get afraid and as soon as he did he started to sink in the water and called out to Jesus to save him.. Jesus grabbed him and asked him why he had such little faith..

The third picture seems to be a story from the gospel when the crowds waiting to hear Jesus on the coast where so large that there was no room for Jesus to get off the boat when he arrived.. So he stayed in the boat and preached to the people from the boat..

Jesus traversed the sea of Galilee more then a few times during his ministry..

Picture 1 passage:

Luke 8: KJV

22 "¶ Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. {23} But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. {24} And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. {25} And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him."

Picture 2 passage:

Matthew 14: KJV
24 "But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. {25} And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. {26} And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. {27} But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. {28} And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. {29} And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. {30} But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. {31} And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?"

Picture 3 passage: I got the third story a little bit wrong from my imperfect memmory  anyway i found the scripture below.. I got one or two points right.. :)

Matthew 13: KJV
1 "The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side. {2} And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. {3} And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;"

Could be that the first one symbolizes that the word must be rightly divided before one can stand on the water.
The second symbolizing the word being rightly divided shows the ship is not dry land he was standing upon in the first image.
Of course the third symbolizing that there was more than one male and female in the garden of Eden.
