I went to a Toastmasters meeting tonight, for the first time in over two years, and retreated to the bathroom when social time came around. Baby steps, folks. Baby steps.

...what is Toastmasters?

The things I am coming up with in my head is probably not right. :P

So I'm really bad about opening up about myself. My life experiences have taught me it's safer to just keep your mouth shut and go about your business. However, I don't think I'm meant to be a wallflower. Honestly, I don't think any of us are. Therefore, I will use this forum to talk about my day! As another poster mentioned earlier... baby steps.

Today I woke up about 7 by an incredibly annoying alarm and got ready for my 8:30 am class. I gave a great presentation about Southern culture and then came home with a migraine. Thankfully I was able to sleep it off. And now I'm roaming around the CC forums. Later today I will do my pharmacology homework and prepare for my job interview tomorrow. :)

That annoying alarm did its job! How'd the presentation go?

The presentation went well! It lasted about 30 minutes. I was told by a few people that at the break some people went to the computer lab and added/changed their presentations because of mine. It's funny how people tend towards insecurity, myself included. I offered to go first for just such a reason.

How did you get involved in Toastmasters?

LOL Toastmasters is an organization with worldwide chapters that helps you with leadership and public speaking. Each meeting has a set of roles that the members fill, and over time, by helping fill each role and giving different speeches (longer over time), you become a better leader and public speaker.
It has nothing to do with breakfast (but there's no such thing as a bad time for pancakes and sausages), but one of the roles is that of Toastmaster, who runs the meeting.

Woohoo!

I visited a few chapters about three years ago, but didn't get involved at the time because I couldn't afford the fees. This time around, I decided to give it another go because I want to become a better speaker. It's pretty easy to get involved - you can find a chapter in your area at Toastmasters.org, drop by and try it out a few times. Some chapters want you to commit and cough up the dough after three visits (part of what chased me away before), and some are more relaxed.

Is this what you want to be when you grow up? The master of all toast? And thats why the name? So you can really immerse yourself in the role?

LOL I wanted to be a Greyhound bus driver (part of me still does), but it would be sweet to rule over the kingdom of toast (especially if I get a throne made of pumpernickel). But the name? Let's say that it's similar to a popular member of the Wu-Tang Clan. :D

(I <3 you Jack Bauer) My 24: Worked, ate Chinese food with friends, confronted a stalker, listened to music with Gary, finally had sense enough to go to bed around 3 AM. :)

That awkward moment when you realize you have competition in the Jullianna stalking department. :D

Just kidding of course! I gave up stalking a long time ago. Same time I discovered the friendzone. ;p
