I am curious to read your responses ,do you think going to church only makes you a christian or by your good deeds.or just reading the bible. Or do you think there is more to it than just doing those things .
Jesus made you His. You were bought with a price and sealed with that spirit of adoption, the Holy Spirit.
Galatians 3:14That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. 26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
In relation to sin, these verses describe the relationship you have now with God through Jesus Christ as we walk through this valley of death.
1 Corinthians 6: 15Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
As another poster hinted, they will know we are christians by our love.... for our neighbor as we love ourselves, but even then we need Jesus' help to do even that so that is why it is written, the just shall live by faith for Jesus is more than just Our Saviour, He is Our Good Shepherd in that He will lead us in the way we ought to go, helping us to live as His by faith. That is the only way we can know Him is by trusting Him to do His work in us after having us made as His.
John 6:28Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
Philippians 1:6Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: ......9And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; 10That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. 11Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
Ephesians 2:8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
1 John 3:22And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 23And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 24And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
Pretty simple to live by that even a child can come to Him and they do, so it is by faith in Jesus Christ.
