You regret the things you prayed for that were answered?
when something that was supposed to be a blessing turns into a curse?

Pray my wicked heart goes back to remember God's will, not my will. (Which, as it turns out is what he did all along, so it's not a curse.)
 
You can do two things that I can think of. One is to trust that the Lord will bring good out of the bad whatever it is. Or you can get out of it. Whatever it may be.

I asked the Lord for wisdom about a situation and what to do...He said, whatever you do, I'll be with you. So I would say ask first.
 
God is not some genie that does whatever we tell Him to do. You cannot pray for God to do anything against His will or plan. You have a severe misunderstanding of God and prayer.

My understanding is that if you pray for things you want or think you need and it's not the will of God for you then he will not answer that prayer.

We should be praying according to his will for ourselves and for others.

Its intersting when I changed my focus on prayer from all about me to God lay on my heart what you want me to pray about then my whole focus when praying changed.

The focus what I needed or wanted decreased and my focus on what others needed increased.

I just want everyone to know my response was based on the post of answered prayer.

I hope that I have not come across as saying that it is wrong to pray for ourselves.

If we need healing we should pray for that, if we do not have enough money to put food on the table pray for that, if we are struggling with sin we should pray for that, if we are lacking faith we should pray for that.
 
I have a theory about prayer.

There are things we pray for that are not really God's will for us. But sometimes
God lets us have them anyway, so that we can find out for ourselves that the
grass isn't always greener on the other side.

A classic example is the prodigal son, he asked the Father for his inheritance now, a
real insult since the Father was still alive! It was almost as if he did not trust the Father to
do what was best for him and he wanted to do things his own way.

The biggest mystery in this tale is that the Father let the prodigal son have his way!

Later on we read how the prodigal son came to his senses and realised what a massive
error of judgement he had made, he fearfully returned back to the Father, but the Father was
looking out for Him, He never abandoned the son but he did allow the son space to make
mistakes.


If the above applies to the OP, there is always a way back, go speak to the Father.

BUT and it's a big BUT, consider carefully if maybe it was a genuine answer to prayer,
just because it didn't work out the way you wanted, doesn't mean it was a mistake, maybe
its a stepping stone to the next part.

Ask God to reveal to you what you should do.
 
I think this is an excellent reply.

God says in Ezekiel 14 that He does this very thing..

Of course I have no idea what the scenario is here but either way God has the answer.. I do pray you no be discouraged

This is what's so confusing to me
i had prayed according to his will
and I know there are difficult times
he has blessed me countless times and those times truly continue to feel like a blessing
i just don't understand why this time it feels like a curse

but my heart always looks to him for answers
i know he gives answers in various ways
so I wanted to post this question here

I've been thinking about this overnight. (This. Your last post.)

First, understand I'm the Christian that didn't get the easy life, and yet, it has been a good life. God has taken care of us in wonderful ways.

And, then I can think of several answers to your frustration. I can think of several answers, but can't guarantee I know the one that helps you. But, I'll give them, in case any of them help you.

1. Don't go by feeling. We have no control over our feelings, and yet, since we're women, the feelings zoom and bounce around like a butterfly in a flower field. They're always there, in one way or another, and can change moment by moment. If we are truly controlled by them the PMS excuse would keep us out of death row for murder... more than once. :rolleyes: It's a feeling. The best I can do is acknowledge that and not let it be the way I choose my thoughts. Instead? Well? Read my signature, because I really do aim for Rom. 8:28 to be my guide, because otherwise I'd "feel" God is nuts. And, God is not nuts, so Rom. 8:28 is true.

2. God has given us a whole lot of promises. His biggest one is he saved us, (because he's chosen to love us), to be his children to serve and honor him. He also said he chose the least, the foolish, the weak. So how can the dregs of the earth become the precious ones to him? A whole lot of work! Kintsuga! (The Japanese art of fixing broken pottery.) We are broken vessels, entirely worthless, until God puts us back together by sanding the pieces, and then putting scalding hot precious-himness into our cracks. It hurts, but it's worth it. How else can he make the useless into useful?

One promise he never gave us was that life would be easy. If you can find one of God's people in the Bible who did have that easy life, let me know. Because I would love to learn the secret of having that easy life. lol

3. Something I read from Spurgeon today that might help.

“Satan hindered us.” 1Th. 2:18

Since the first hour in which goodness came into conflict with evil, it has never ceased to be true in spiritual experience, that Satan hinders us. From all points of the compass, all along the line of battle, in the vanguard and in the rear, at the dawn of day and in the midnight hour, Satan hinders us. If we toil in the field, he seeks to break the ploughshare; if we build the wall, he labours to cast down the stones; if we would serve God in suffering or in conflict-everywhere Satan hinders us. He hinders us when we are first coming to Jesus Christ. Fierce conflicts we had with Satan when we first looked to the cross and lived. Now that we are saved, he endeavours to hinder the completeness of our personal character. You may be congratulating yourself, “I have hitherto walked consistently; no man can challenge my integrity.” Beware of boasting, for your virtue will yet be tried; Satan will direct his engines against that very virtue for which you are the most famous. If you have been hitherto a firm believer, your faith will ere long be attacked; if you have been meek as Moses, expect to be tempted to speak unadvisedly with your lips. The birds will peck at your ripest fruit, and the wild boar will dash his tusks at your choicest vines. Satan is sure to hinder us when we are earnest in prayer. He checks our importunity, and weakens our faith in order that, if possible, we may miss the blessing. Nor is Satan less vigilant in obstructing Christian effort. There was never a revival of religion without a revival of his opposition. As soon as Ezra and Nehemiah begin to labour, Sanballat and Tobiah are stirred up to hinder them. What then? We are not alarmed because Satan hindereth us, for it is a proof that we are on the Lord’s side, and are doing the Lord’s work, and in his strength we shall win the victory, and triumph over our adversary.

I have found (in my own life) that sometimes a prayer is answered in a way that we only fully understand in retrospect.
