Not a weird sound ...I hear the sound of those speeding cars and big bikes I live near a two-lane road...when I was new here I couldn't sleep 
...and the weird thing now is, I feel strange not to hear loud noises coming from the outside

Your brain catalogs sounds and automatically tries to match them to known sources. One reason it's hard to sleep in a strange place is there are so many sounds your brain can't match to the sources, so you stay awake wondering what that noise was.
The oddest thing I ever heard at night was when my father had the flu and he was in the bathroom vomiting. For some reason he is a loud vomiter.

I've lived in the country for most of my life. Here in Oregon, I sometimes hear coyotes, and usually hear birds in the early evening or early morning. In California, I'd hear bears, foxes, owls, and once the scream of a mountain lion. The most interesting sounds I heard there was when listening to the Klamath River. Sometimes you could hear rocks rolling down stream, and sometimes the river would even sound like voices.

If you get a wind strong enough, from just the right angle, there is a tree that taps against the side of my bedroom...inches away from my head. It drives me frantic

The sounds I hear when I'm falling asleep are both real and not-real.
The real one is a loud breeze from a machine. (Better than a fan.) It's my CPAP mask.
The not-real sounds I hear are vague bits of conversation. I'm never sure if I have ever actually heard the conversation in real life or if it's something my mind whips up right before drifting off, but it's usually something like the background words of a Pink Floyd song, but with American accents.

just about every night there are between 2 & 5 barred owls having a big conversation in our backyard, sometimes in the oaks right outside a couple of the windows..
.. and a few cats apparently training for the feline olympics all over the house
