Continue with my 3D artwork. It might take me 1 year to get good at it. I already know the foundation skills of it. I can get back into making artwork, and then maybe get freelance work for people in the indie game market.

Learn Japanese. If I can get good enough speaking that language I could maybe take my artwork to Japan. I am talking about remote work.

After studying practice Japanese, go for a third language, like Korean.

Taking 1 year with the artwork, 1 year with the Japanese. I can study the Japanese at same time I am doing artwork.

This is with the idea that I have 20 years left until retirement age. After 1 year I might be able to get remote and freelance work. Having the second language as one of my job skills.

I can get that work going right there, come off SSDI and then after 19 years retire into SSI. Also, after I would claim SSI I can still be doing work.

I know I talked about the mental illness being like a bad back, but if I am working remote work and also maybe freelance It shouldn't be too hard for me.

I know nothing about 3D artwork, indie game market or the difficulties of learning Japanese or Korean (although that sounds formidable). This is Christian forum site so I must say the obvious. Pray about your decision and seek God's guidance for your life. If this is His will, He will tell you. If not His will, He will provide an alternative. Be open to both, even if at first it does meet your expectations. He does have a plan for you!

Some artists are facing unemployment because AI can make art faster and cheaper, which will likely increase as AI continues to get exponentially better.

This might be true for some artist. But there is certain things that AI is long ways from being able to produce. What an artist needs to do, is learn how to use existing AI tools.

"What they can do, I can do better."

This is mostly if not all digital artists, like graphic arts and stuff. Traditional mediums are much more stable.

This is what I will do. I will make something to show what I am able to do. I will come up with a creature and make it.

At the moment I have been busy making yarn. I am attempting to see if I can make some money, now that I have read the book on making and running a business.

Thats a good idea.

Your styles definitely quite unique! I think it would be well highlighted in a indie exploration game, let's say like outward or a game like such:)

I would say it edges on realism but is still a bit unrealistic.

Ive always wanted to get into 3D modeling and painting, as i am good with art, but it also is a hassle to learn how to sculpt.

@jacko see that's something else I don't know. If I could only get some information on it I would have a better idea of what I was doing.

Here last night I found out there is not very many low poly 3D artist. I am good at low poly 3D art work and rather love doing it. I learned how doing this from my PS1 studies, which I have shown you here. Petra was a good study because it's a mix of low poly and sculpture. Notice I got her arms out of proportion :). A flaw I noticed in it.

But it's like you said Jacko, where do I get work from? How can I find an indie game maker to hire me on a freelance basis. And I was thinking it's the same with the Japanese. If I could learn enough Japanese I could work for the indie game makers doing translations for them.

The only thing I know I could do is make my own games. I have heard of artist finding work on forum posts, but when you try doing this they shoot down your post.

I would start by scouring the job boards and see if there is any demand (job openings) at any level for this type work. It's a very niche type of work, so I bet it's not easy to get.

How old are you if I may ask? If you were still relatively young, the sure bet is to learn a trade. You can try the other stuff as a side hustle. I would take a welding class.
