QUOTE:

Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved.(Mk 16:16)

“I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit."(Jn 3:5)

The apostles would follow these commands, along with the great commission.

END QUOTE...............

..........oh goodness..............and another one who doesn't understand what "water" is being spoken of...........

CLUE: The Well of Living Water.........(read the woman at the well)

I assume you are speaking to me, young lady. And if so, I assume, since you seem somewhat cavalier and disrespectful towards my posts, you know quite about more about the bible than me. Since that appears to be the case, would you please be kind enought to tell me if Simon was saved? It doesn't say anything about him having his whole household there, nor does it say anything about Simon washing anyones wounds out. Acts 8:13

And, for your information, division happens when people start substituting man's doctrine for God's, and people like me stand in defense of the word. That division better occur if a person is serving God. Acts 18:9

I'm sorry you misunderstood me and took it the wrong way. Lord knows I was just showing you the way of salvation. I was talking about the jailer on the household and wounds. Simon wasn't saved yet because he stilled needed the Spirit. Misinterpreting scripture, not reading all of scripture, and flesh is the seed to man made doctrine. I'm interdenominational and realize that many have scripture to support the man made doctrine but have the 3 in the way, preventing the full meaning and benefit of the scripture. Again I'm sorry about the misunderstanding. Hope I helped.

Salvation, like sanctification, is a process, one can even say that within sanctification begins the process of salvation. Paul was correct, for he gave the jailer the foundation for salvation, but it is the jailor who inevitably chooses what is built upon that foundation, whether gold, silver, precious stones (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) or the flesh (wood, hay, and stubble). The key word is believe, which is the believer's responsibility to maintain. Grace, simply put, is everything that God does for a sinner, therefore when a person reverts back into their old man- God's grace immediately stops, for His testimony is at risk, and the position of a person returns back into a state of death until they learn, through chastisement, that they can't trust their flesh as far as they can throw it.

"Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved"

That is what Paul told the jailer. Pretty sure Paul knew what he was talking about. That's all, and exactly, what he said: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ"

"Then Simon himself believed also"............Simon fulfilled all requirements laid out by Christ and relayed by Paul. Simon was saved at that moment.

That is bible. That is not a parable. That is indisputable. That is Paul's gospel that he obtained directly from Christ.

Do you really think that is all Paul said?

Act 16:32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.

here we are told that they spoke the word of the Lord to all of them. So Paul did more than just say believe and be saved.

They were baptized after this word. So Paul gave more instruction.

here is another one:

Act 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

So is that it? just call? no we have to have faith believe.

they respond:

Act 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

SO they wanted to know how to be saved.

Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

So Peter said Repent which means to turn to God, go and sin no more. and be baptized.

Did Peter teach a different Gospel than Paul?

NO.

Act 11:14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.
Act 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

well we know Peter spoke and we know that they were baptized and we know that Peter speaks about Repentance.

Act 15:1 And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

They had a problem with people pushing circumcision so what did they decide was needed to be saved?

Act 15:20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

They decided these things were needed for salvation being that the whole point of the meeting was speak on what is needed to be saved.

Does that mean only those things are needed? No we have already seen repentance, faith/believe and baptism are needed.

Act_15:11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

We need grace to be saved.

Rom_10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Hear Paul says we must confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus.

and so on and so on.

IF you go read all paul said we have to obey God to be saved. we have to put away the old man of sin in Christ. we have to have the fruit of the Spirit. etc etc.

we can't just take one scripture and make a whole doctrine of salvation out of it.

Jesus said:

Luk 13:23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,
Luk 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
Luk 13:25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
Luk 13:26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
Luk 13:27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

So those who work iniquity/sin are not saved.

I could go on and on. I think the point is made.

END QUOTE.........

You are correct. Peter did not teach a different Gospel than Paul............but folks who read Acts 2:38 and believe it says water baptism is for the forgiveness of sin simply misread the scripture........

Lemme give you an example.......

"Repent, and jump for joy for the forgiveness of sin..........."

QUESTION........Why are we commanded to jump for joy? To have our sins forgiven............OR...........BECAUSE our sins were forgiven when we repented?

It really is that simple...............

Acts 2:38 simply says that we are water baptized "for/because" our sins were forgiven upon repentance.
