My church actually doesn't do a special service on Resurrection Sunday; we just cancel Sunday school and have breakfast as a Christian family before we have a relatively normal service. (Menudo and posole, naturally.)

However, my town does put together a Sunrise Service every Easter at the community center (7am!!!), and invites the local churches to all collaborate. Our church's contribution will be our pastor giving the Invocation, and our children's/teen choir singing. (This is my first time attending this particular tradition, I've no clue which church is doing praise/worship, which church's pastor is bringing the message, etc. But it's a pretty cool idea, even if you can only pull it off in a small suburb.) After that service is when we return to our house, eat, and have church again. ^_^

In my hometown, the church I grew up in always did a musical drama. I'm not used to not being in a bazillion rehearsals leading up to Easter Sunday; it's definitely different for me.

What are your places of worship doing this Sunday? Big production to bring in new souls? Simple Sunday morning service? The Lord's Supper?

At our bible study today everyone told about what they did in their family for Easter. Most said they went to Easter Service in the morning and did something with Easter eggs with the children afterwards.

Several years ago one of the ladies had a Christian Passover Seder at her home. I attended, but the idea was so foreign to me that I didn't really understand. Still, it seemed like a very Holy Night. I know of none to attend this year so I printed out a program for the ceremoy to go over it again. I would love to find a passover dinner to be part of, again. Every food, every minute of the dinner relates to Christ and what Christ did for us.

The first scripture reading is about God asking us to celebrate that God frees us from bondage, to do this through the generations. Scriptures are read from the NT telling of how Christ sets us free from the bondage of sin.

There is much wine or grape juice drinking, Four cups. There is the cup of Sanctification or of Christ setting us apart, of Deliverance, of Redemption, and a cup of Restoration.

Candles are lit by the oldest woman there, to welcome the holiday with a blessing for the holiday. "We strike the match, but God brings forth the light".

It is all very structured, with readings that have been traditional from the time of Moses. There is nothing about any of the dinner that does not relate to Christ or isn't part of praise and devotion to Christ. Even the food. The meat is lamb, symbol of Christ. The children are made a part of the celebration, and the family is blessed.

I makes our Easter egg hunts, ham dinners, and sitting listening to a sermon without participating seem very worldly and as if it has only a part of the deep joy in Christ, and reverence that this dinner can have.

We worship our hearts out and celebrate the loving gift of Christ and the power of His resurrection. :)
