What have you been preaching?

Try to fancy this gloomy scene:

  • “…in that the children and the babies faint in the streets of the city. They say to their mothers, Where are grain and wine? In their fainting they are like the wounded in the streets of the city, in their pouring out their lives to their mothers' bosom.” (Lamentations 2.11,12).
It’s saddening, isn’t it? The first thing that comes to our mind is: “I need to comfort and help this family. This is laudable (James 2.14-17). Nevertheless, do you know why the Israelites was going through all this ordeal?

  • “Your prophets have seen false and foolish things for you, and they have not uncovered your iniquity, to turn away your captivity; but they have seen false oracles and seductions for you.” (Lamentations 2.14).
Many times, we are guilty because we don’t obey the commandment of the Creator to cry aloud His truth (see Hosea 4.1-6; Matthew 10.27; Joel 2.1):
  • “Cry aloud, do not spare, lift up your voice like a ram's horn, and show My people their rebellion, and the house of Jacob their sins.” (Isaiah 58.1).
  • “For this My people go into exile without knowledge, and their honorable men into famine, and his multitude is dried up with thirst.” (Isaiah 5.13).
Most of the times we misunderstand the solace of the Eternal (2Co 1.3-5). See how the Eternal console someone in 1Kings 19.13-18. At no moment the Creator coddled Elijah. On the contrary: He tell Elijah off questioning “what are you doing here, Elijah?”, that is to say “you know, Elijah, that I speak with you in every place, you know that there are many service to do (see Luke 10.2), what are you doing here, Elijah?”.

Next, the Creator put Elijah to work.

So, don’t be afraid of hurting the people!!! Recall that cursed is he who keeps back his sword from blood (Jeremiah 48.10). Jesus vouchsafed you with His sword of the spirit (Ephesians 6.17) so that He can rescue His lost sheep through you. Use it!!!

No chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous. Nevertheless afterward, when it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby, you will find more favour than he that flatters with the tongue.” (Hebrews 12.11; Proverbs 28.23).

Do this and you will have a beneficial day.
