what i accomplished today: cooked breakfast for mrs. wife & i, mowed 6 lawns, a few very big, prayed many hours while mowing, sold a bench grinder, checked into a huge nascar collection, showered myself, cooked my dinner, ate it, washed dishes & now i'm typing this!

Maybe leave the door open?
It's funny you said that because the other day the microwave went off by itself with the door open and the buttons wouldn't stop it. I had to unplug it, then plug it back in and reset the clock and it was normal again. It happened once before.
I used to buy 'hot pockets' and they used to have these little cardboard boxes that you slip them in for microwaving and they had a silver lining inside like foil and they would come out crispy. They were called crisping sleeves. I found a picture of them.

Well, I have a kitchen, but I took the doors off.. sooo, it is kind of open still, just no straight view to my whole living room. My kitchen only sits just two people.

And about guests, yeah, I never have that many guest either. I have seen on the renovation show etc where they want to entertain people and kitchen need to be huge and connected to the living room.. Maybe overseas people like having (and have) sooo many people over all the time. And even if I have more people, we don't all have to be in the same room, if I have that many over they are going to know each other and entertain one another.

Light bulbs to wires.. sounds safe 🙈😬

Who's gonna finish the lamp installation first? 😁
In my FB feed I oftentimes get reels where people from Finland display their resentment of their neighbors and stuff. Quite funny.😂 I guess they are exaggerating. The reels are made by two guys from Finland.

I have watched quite a bit of content from one guy from Finland, a stand-up comedian going by the name of Ismo.
He is quite funny, riffing on differences in our language, mostly. I would post one of his videos but it would be risky

You are very industrious! (y)My accomplishment today was getting to a medical appointment LOL.

(to be sung to the tune of Oh Christmas tree)
OH! Crispy sleeves!
Oh Crispy sleeves!
Oh how we miss you crispy sleeves!

I recently bought my son some hot pockets, haven't had them in a very long time.
He opened the box and said "Um, didn't these use to have some cardboard thing for cooking them in?"

I only cook popcorn in the microwave (paper bag with butter)
or prawn crackers, chuck in as is and they bubble up and crispy

I guess anything with moisture in it won't crisp
I don't think you can chuck in potato slices and turn them into crisps in the microwave, but maybe could do in an air fryer.

Today I helped paint a mural.
For dinner I cooked won ton noodle soup. I also baked frozen cookie dough chocolate brownies.

You baked frozen brownies? What kinda reverse-oven you got, that when you bake something it freezes?

(Don't bother analyzing that. It was a joke. I'm not gonna claim it was a GOOD joke, but it was not serious.)

Well.. 😆 it might come from somewhere, but surely it is exaggerated a little.. probably.

Old saying "A Finn pays 100, only for his neighbour to not get 50."

Only problem I have with finnish comedians and others, is that they cuss a lot..

I think that is a common characteristic... in fact when we got the papers at work,
there used to be a small blurb in the entertainment section comparing the quips
from talk-show type hosts who often use comedy while delivering the latest news
and opinions on current events (much like Jimmy Kimmel), and it was striking how
much cleaner Jay Leno was at the time compared to his contemporaries. Respect! (y)

I gotta check that one out.
You might also like bigdaddyleo, different type of comedy but still quite amusing... he is filmed
and then the set-up is as if he is part of other people's tik tok vids... the comedy is in his reactions,
or he is simply watching something online from his man cave (?) and gives commentary, like, you did
what? And, no thank you LOL. No, really, I'm good. For food stuff he will sometimes say, I ate last week LOL.

Big daddy just started showing up in my feeds recently. He has almost a million subscribers!

Something else that began showing up in my youtube sidebar was Javierr moon dancing :giggle::ROFL::giggle:

Is this like in the movie, forgot its name - about this old guy who lives in a semi-retired village and polices his neighbours to make sure they don't get above themselves.

The hyperbole could be more true to life than you think.

I have one Finnish friend. For two months of the year, she's sure to tell me how she literally wants to kill her neighbours. Why? because some of them persist in mowing their lawns at unsociable hours during the nightless days of the Midnight Sun. 😆

That sounds good, too. My kitchen isn't right next to the living room, so I couldn't create an open floor plan anyway.

I was supposed to go on a retreat today but I've got a lot to do at home. Housework, reading library books, and gardening.

I think christian retreats are a nice idea, but it just means housework piles up when you get back home.

I mean if I read my library books at a Christian retreat, I'd still have to pay $35, and money for gas to get there, so I might as well just do it at home.

I think they would work if you come from a family of 12 or so, and other family members can do the housework while you are away. if you just leave it for your dad/husband to do, they don't do a good job of it, and they end up buying takeaways for dinner and so the fresh food you bought goes uneaten and wasted.

Meh.

Plus if you go away, you still have to pay the rent (if renting) even if you are not there . Oh and who looks after your pets? They can't always come with you on holiday/retreat.

I've observed the way rich people take vacations/holidays. So they have several homes, and alternate between them. Each home (or residence) has staff who keep the place tidy and running even when the owners are away. Sometimes they may let the place out if it's empty as a air bnb or something.
They can take holidays whenever cos they don't usually have bosses telling them they can't. Or they make so much money they can afford to go without income for a while, or the income doesn't require them to be present, it can just be rent from the land they own. Also they know other people with homes, maybe in exotic islands, and can stay there for free as their friends are such generous hosts and want to show off their homes.
And they can leave children with a nanny or au pair, and pets they can take with them or they have a petsitter or their servants to look after them. And if they own a private yacht, it has it's own cabin crew and when they not in it, they just charter other people in it. And they don't have to drive or sail if they don't want to as they have chauffeurs and personal pilots and captains to do it for them.

And...well,, yea thats where my observations come to an end. I'm not coveting or anything.
