In early church traditions, Solemn Assemblies were conducted on special occasions for certain religious services. During ancient times it was held for many festivals, feasts, and other holy activities where there would be no work on these particular days. There could be several days in a row that activities were going on, but there would be a day set aside from the rest in order to conduct a Solemn Assembly, which emphasized purification and atonement. During Old Testament times, Solemn Assemblies most often was used for dedications, special instructions for priests and the church. So how does the church today differ conducting them in modern times?
Joel 1:1-14, and Joel 2:14-15 In chapter one, verse 14 we have the first call for a Solemn Assembly, then the second call comes in chapter two, verse 15. Joel warns the people of their unrighteousness and tells them to "cry unto the Lord."
