There are different ideas out there about what is and is not forgiveness and some of these ideas are true and some are false. With so many different ways of thinking of forgiveness, it may get confusing for some. What puzzles me a bit is the passage in Revelation 6:9-10:
" When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. 10They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?”
These are saints who died for their faith who are clearly calling out to God to avenge their blood.... I think these saints would have forgiven them but it is confusing because they are asking God to carry out vengenge. How does that work?
