What is it necessary to be saved (Part 29)

21 - Look at Jesus

  • "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else." (Isaiah 45:22).
  • "There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us." (Psalms 4:6).
  • "Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake." (Psalms 31:16).
  • "Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved." (Psalms 80.3).
  • "Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved." (Psalms 80:7).

Perhaps you are questioning: why this is so important? Jesus was very clear:

  • "He that believeth on me, *as the scripture hath said*, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." (John 7:38).

Observe that Jesus didn't say "who believes in me as the religious leader say or in according to what the world says about Me". We need to believe in Jesus pursuant to what the Holy Scripture says, and not in a way that is convinient to us. We need to accept Jesus in our life as He is, and not as we long for that He should be.

Furthermore, Jesus used the following metaphor:

  • "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:14,15).

It is the correct vision about Jesus that can save us from ourselves; it is com His eyes over us that He ward off all evil (Prov 20.8).

So, have a prosperous week looking always and firmly at Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12.2).
