One of the movies that have touched me the most is Schlinders List...in many escenes but I'll mention two. First, when they show how cruel they treat and kill the jews when they are getting them out of their houses. This touched me because I could feel the impotence of wanting to change something so horrible and simply can't. Seeing people hurting makes me sad and angry, and sadly that happens everyday and everywhere. I realized how evil people can be, and how noone does anything about it.... even when evil it's right in your nose, so bold and obvious you can deny it.
The other scene that made me sad was the end (SPOILER ALERT if you haven't watched it) when Schindler regrets not having saved more lives and he starts crying and regretting having a car or having any possesions at all....im not sure why that touched me but it did, deeply.

I have never gotten more emotional while watching a movie than I did when I seen ''Passion of the Christ". My insides started to get stirred up during the scene in the garden of gethsemane. By the time they were whipping 'Jesus' with the cat of nine tails the tears were in full flow.
I have never been so touched by a movie and probably never will be in my lifetime.

Seeing that portrayal of what my Lord suffered and endured for us was hard to watch, and the movie version was probably the PG version compared to what happened in reality....

I can't imagine anything ever moving me more than The Passion of the Christ. It tore my heart out.
Schindler's List was also powerful.
The scene from Gladiator when he finds out what happened to his family was moving. The Patriot was moving. Braveheart was moving.

A film with so many great moments. My personal favorite is the scene in which he laments how he could have done more. So brilliant.
The scene in Dr. Strangelove when they discuss the process of preserving humanity in our deeper mineshafts.
Kenneth Branagh's Henry V. "Tennis balls, my liege." "In peace, nothing so becomes a man as modest, stillness, and humility, but when war drums beat tis' time to imitate the action of the Tiger!" "And hold their manhoods cheap, whiles any speaks that fought with us upon St. Crispin's Day!" "We are but warriors for the working day, our gayness and our gilt are all besmirched by rainy marching in the painful field but by the mass our hearts are in the trim!"
So many times in life since seeing that film have I looked at the challenges brought before me and smiled thinking of these lines.
The final scene of Super 8 when everyone watches the alien leave orbit. Very touching moment that shows how so very little about the movie actually concerns the alien.
The scene in which Bertie delivers his radio address in The King's Speech. Absolutely brilliant. It is a scene that inspires awe of perverseness, exemplifies the romance of an empire now gone, and awakens in one the earnestness of the times.
The many musings in any Whit Stillman film. I cannot pinpoint a moment because I love them all.
I'll probably post a second time. Film is one of my favorite media platforms. Every time I see a live performance, I dream of how a film maker could improve it.
I cant remember all the moments when I have seen movies or how they stirred my heart and/or mind right now, but one thing for sure - I dont quite cry while watching a movie... Eeeeven tho, I did cry a bit on the Passion of Christ - which was a great production that in my opinion could reach EVERY heart, and recently while watching a very touching moment on the movie "Soul Surfer", which related directly to me and my situation right now.. It was the moment when Bethany was talking to her mentor (after the shark attack..)...and how she couldnt understand why that happened to her... Been through those questions and doubts a lot lately.. But the movie and her story were very inspiring and comforting somehow..
But then there are lots of touching movies I have seen and yes they somehow stirred my heart or mind.. Dont remember crying tho.. Its not quite me. Uhm, Im an Introvert (my excuse?) lol.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants pt1 **SPOILER ALERT**
One of my favorite movies is Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (first one) and what really gets me is when Tibby (Amber Tamblin) finds out at the end that Bailey, the younger girl who she first found annoying because she insisted on helping her make her video/documentary, but later became good friends with had died and that she had been very sick with leukemia the whole time. It still breaks my heart.

Obviously The Passion of the Christ....
But The Patriot had some seriously gut wrenching scenes for me. Also, as someone else mentioned, the scene from Gladiator when he found his family. and a few more. I cry in movies a lot though....like in Toy Story 3.....lol

Anyway, people... The following movie scenes have choked me up over the years:
"Death Wish" (1974) when Bronson looks at the Hawaii trip pics he and his wife took together before she was murdered
"Jesus Of Nazareth" (1977) when Jesus heals the blind guy and tells him that he is now seeing the Son of Man
"Scarface" (1983) when Tony kills Manny
"The Karate Kid" (1984) when Danny wins at the end and calls out to Mr. Miyagi "Hey, we did it!"
"Rocky IV" (1985) the epic ending when Rocky did the impossible and avenged Apollo's death with 'Heart's On Fire' blasting over the end credits
"Planes, Trains & Automobiles" (1987) at the end when Candy reveals to Steve Martin that his wife is dead and he's homeless
"RoboCop" (1987) when Robo returns home and leans into his wife for a kiss but she's only an image from his past (only a memory)
"The Untouchables" (1987) when Sean Connery dies and also at the end when Kevin Costner gives Andy Garcia Connery's callbox key in a handshake
"Batman" (1989) Joker's death and the triumphant end with Batman standing on the roof with the Bat-Signal above him, ready to defend Gotham
"Ghostbusters II" (1989) when the New Yawkers rally together in love and the Statue of Liberty smashes the museum roof with her torch
"Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991) when Arnold lowers himself to the steel and gives John and Sarah the thumbs up
"A League Of Their Own" (1992) when Dottie and Kit reunite at the 'Heaven in Cooperstown' and all the girls sing their league theme song
"Malcolm X" (1992) the eulogy at the end... I cried my eyes out the first time I saw it because the world lost a wonderful, wonderful hero of the people
"Leon: The Professional" (1994) when Leon is killed by Stansfield and Mathilda walks away to safety carrying Leon's beloved plant
"Braveheart" (1995) the ending when Robert the Bruce inspires the Scots to 'bleed with him' as they bled with Wallace
"Titanic" (1997) the ending when the Titanic is perfectly restored and all those who perished in the disaster are together as one big family
"Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone" (2001) when Gryffindor wins the House Cup - John Williams' score is particularly beautiful in this scene
"The Passion Of The Christ" (2004) the Crucifixion scene made all the more powerful during the flashback to Jesus declaring Himself Way, Truth, Life

I want to say that I have never cried at a movie... *sigh* Wish I could sometimes but nothin. Haha Needless to say, some parts I have found touching:
Homeward Bound: At the end when the family is reunited with their pets but Shadow doesn't show up. They think he's dead and then BAM... He's back and it's the greatest "happily ever after" ever.
Little Women: When Beth dies.
Seven Pounds: Will Smith gives his heart to the woman he loves. (Literally)
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe: The white witch kills Aslan. Very symbolic and heart wrenching.
The Pursuit of Happyness: Will Smith's character sleeping in the bathroom with his son.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (II): When George Weasley discovers his twin, Fred, has died in battle.
My Girl: When Thomas dies.
Bridge to Terabithia: When the girl dies. (Haha clearly death scenes get to me)
Lord of the Rings (Two Towers, I think?): When Gandolf returns as the white wizard and descends from the hill on the white unicorn. Ahhh.
The Neverending Story: "Say my name, Bastian, say my name!!!" And he says his mother's name. (Which we never know). AH. Love.
Elf: Buddy's dad starts singing and Santa's sleigh flies. (OKAY, so I may be obsessed with this movie so I had to include it. Haha!)

A short video clip the length of a song, helped me to understand a facet of the irony of christianity. The Celtic Sons of Thunder sang words of a witness given from a man who experienced war in the hearts of men. When I sang those words; I was placed in that time and personally experienced the after effects of war. I used to speak against nations of people because of religions, because of governments, because of propaganda that causes people to hate each other. Even among Christians, I see the affects of a tragic irony. The name of the song is Christmas 1915

I should reply too since it is my thread, and, Yeah, BostonRocky, and, where's your uni, and, long time no hear, and, used to chat with ya in chatroom but I not there so 'hi,' patriots fan . And Clover lover and how 'bout dem bruins
, and, OK, sorry peeps, I nearly DErailed my own thread , but I like the scene in 'Braveheart' where *spoiler alert* william wallace (mel gibson), a Scottish warrior in 13th century, was ready for the guilotine and the british king, Edward I, gives Wallace one last say before execution. The word Wallace shouts isFreeeeeeeeeeedom !!!!
Gibson had inspired the Scottish army before he was captured with with a speech including that word, and, after Wallace yelled that word, freedom rang. Wallace was killed, but the rebellion did not die. The revolution for Scotland's freedom had only just begun.
Two reasons this stirred me:
1) I felt close to what the apostles went through, dying for their cause to already the word of Jesus.
2) I have made more than a few motivational speeches in my life, mostly to lead people to Christ but some just to.better understand their Christ life. And, Wallace's speech was tremendous in power, not just meaning, getting civilian Scots to wage war for freedom against the MUCH better equipped Brits.

Yes, lizzytheone, hope. My friend of 38 years , who has a wife now of 15 years, and two boys, is
who I hold out hope for coming to a genuine personal knowledge of Christ, I pray that often, not judging, only God knows my friend's heart, but, yes, hope is something inside me that I will never let go, for so many things, including one day seeing my Saviour face to face and he saying, 'Edward, you showed much tough love to bring others to both a knowing and a saving knowledge of Christ, your reward shall be this,' and 'this' I will not be able to contain the joy inside me upon seeing and that feeling will never let go.
I could say one more stirring moment, but if you read julieannie's thread on 'OH, I will just list this stirring moment, too, many know it from other threads said, but in 'Titánica' there is a scene where Jack and Rose are swimming out to a bedframe in the frigid Atlantic sea and Rose gets on the frame. Jack tries to get on to, but the frame begins to sink, so, Jack gets down into the water, holding onto the frame.
Well, time goes on and Jack is talking nonstop and notices Rose is not responding. For she, lizzy, has fallen asleep in these chilling conditions.
Jack: Rose ! Rose ! Wake up, Rose.
Rose: huh, what, jack? (Grogg, half-asleep)
Jack is shivering now.
Jack: R-r-rose , y-y-you must never let yourself go to sleep here.
Rose: Jack, I am sooo cold, tired.
Jack: I-I-I (shivering) know you are going to do great things in life, have a whole bunch of beautiful kids, a nice husband, and, all kinds of things. You must promise me you will never let yourself go to sleep. Never let go, Rose.
Rose: I promise, Jack, I will never let go.
Jack: O-o-o-k, good. (Really shivering now), I will hold your hand.
Rose starts talkin' a mile a minute now, singing, too...
Rose: I want to have 10 kids , Jack, you and I , and, a big house with a white picket fence and animals. What about you, Jack?
Rose stops talking , singing, and realizes Jack is not with an answer. Jack's hand is limp when she goes to raise it. Jack has let go.
Rose: No. Jack!!! No!!!
Rose clutches Jack's hand and then lets it go and Jack sinks into the sea.
Rose is again on the frame, lying, sureky hypothermia setting in, and, she hears a whistler. A rescue boat is making one last pass through the waters. Dead bodies are floating everywhere and the boat is afar from Rose and as it gets farther from her.
She screams 'here,' but it comes out very feeble. So she musters all the strength inside her and gives a hearty yell. Rescued.
I say this because it is indeed one of the most stirring moments in film, but it also speaks of God, who will NEVER let go of you, guys and gals, YOU mat let go of him, but He will never let go of you, RockyO, lizzy, julieannie, KayM, seeKingTruth, liam, ritt, catty, and, everyone else, including , of course, me too

The end of Terminator 2 makes everyone cry.
Apart from that though, I've never been one to cry at films...until recently. I don't know what it is, but somehow, I appear to have gone soft in my old age. I'm not talking full scale blubbing, but I do get mist in my eyes, and that awful pain in the chest as though someone's gripping your heart. The best example I can think of that did that to me was When the Wind Blows. The whole film is engrossingly depressing, but the final scene...ugh. If you've not seen it you should definitely watch it. I think it's even knocking about on Youtube.
