What is our inheritance in Christ Jesus?
In the Old Testament, the priests left, as inheritance, their ministry in the tabernacle, and this only to their children. The inheritance of the Old Testament was the privilege of staying all the time serving the Creator and, thus, getting free from sinning (or, at least, it was to be thus). If they had fulfilled stalwartly their ministry, they would have staying most of the time focused on the spiritual things.
Unfortunately, many of them, instead of trying to contemplate the Creator working amidst their holy services, they only looked on this as a tiresome obligation (Malachi 1:13).
On the other hand, for the people of Israel, go to the tabernacle and feel the sweet savour of the sacred incense and of the unction oil, it was to be a stimulus to approach of the Creator through the sacrifices for the sins.
Nonetheless, instead of going with expectance to get rid of their sins and see the Creator to manifest His glory in the middle of the cherubim (Exodus 25:22), they considered great work to go until where the tabernacle (or temple) was (1King 12:28) and, certainly, a great loss to give sacrifices for the sin of their soul.
So, in virtue of they didn’t try to know the Creator better, they couldn’t stay loyal to Him and His alliance (Hebrews 8:8,9). And the worst is that, many times, we are making the same mistake seeking the Holy Spirit only for a few moments, and this in order to experiment some spiritual bliss.
We need urgently to seek out in Christ what belongs to us:
• “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” (1Co 2:9,10).
When the matter is salvation, people think only in Jesus’ blood. However, when Jesus came into the heavenly sanctuary (Heb 9:24), He didn’t offer only His blood, but His soul (life) and His Spirit (John 16:7).
Recall that we are body, soul and spirit. And Jesus’ body has the same structure:
• His body is comprised of everyone that believe in Jesus Christ;
• His soul is the lifestyle that we need to live while we are sojourning in this world;
• His Spirit is our guide, to whom we ought to consult, obey and follow, whether in thoughts, feelings, dreams, desires and actions.
So, have a good day staying inside Jesus’ body, living the live that Jesus lived while He was here and being infused in all beauty that there is in the holiness of the Holy Spirit (Psalms 29:2; 96:9).
